Why should I vote ANC?

Erm i think you misinterpreted what he said penguin.

He was implying that it is not a simple task of just forgiving and forgetting. He likened it to criminals being in jail as we don't just let them do as they please. They are held accountable for their actions and the past regime and country that let apartheid go on for as long as they did should be held accountable for their mistakes too. I by no means think he was meaning the entire white population are criminals.
 
we should be righting the wrongs of our forefathers that is how a country as well as a person in their own personal capacity grow and enrich themselves.

Well he has to explain what he meant. For me it is clear. He cannot move forward with people like me that want to stop living in the past and create a better society for all. What his analogy made clear and note he never contradicted the claim, was that he see us whites as the criminals that must be held responsible for our crime (apartheid) forever more. That was 15 years ago. Young kids from that time had nothing to do with apartheid, they inherited the situation and grew up with it. Therefore when the time came we voted for change with fear in our hearts and Madiba quelled that fear. After Madiba the situation started reversing and the militants seems to be getting the upper hand in the ANC.

So where do we go from here. Must all whites die for retribution to be complete? Are we going to wait till everyone that ever benefitted or lived during the apartheid era die?

What about the last 5 years. Must all that suffered under the ANC and their policies (AIDS, Medical, etc) take the same attitude of hate and retribution for the next 12 years?

We already saw statements that AA/BEE will never end while the ANC are in power. Why, whats the fear?

Then I get lambasted for pitying a racist **** because he hates whites wanting a beter life?

So indicate to me where I was racist! I was refering to the "JustAsk" type. Go read all his comments in this thread from the start and look what his attitude was before I even posted.

In no way did I mean this same applies to all blacks and/or all blacks are the same type. Lets clarify this: That was more a tongue in cheek retort against the disrepectfull statement made by JustAsk. See below.

What he is suggesting was that the historic referendum where the whites voted in favour for abandoning apartheid was a worthless exercise. You can smell the hate, anger and fear in his text. Then his reference to Timgaul actually filling his childs head with propoganda was just as distastefull. But like anything in South Africa that is Ok, why? who was the person that made the comments? Hmmmm. But if I make a simple comment that I pity his kind I am wrong and a racist too. Very delightfull.

You said you were refering to "my type",then explain only this part "the only reason we voted for the end of apartheid..." Doesn't really matter who you refering too,does it?

If anybody wants to label me a racist based on everything i said in this thread,then by all means,GO FOR IT...i stand by everything i said here.It happens wayyyy too often that anybody that doesn't agree with a popular view here,gets labelled all sorts of things,gets thrown to silly little insults.

So practice what you preach...go read the thread from the start...you may find it a decent discussion before you and your like minded buddies joined.

Well, racist or not, you certainly are obsessed with race. Some people may feel that's the same thing. They certainly have a lot of similar qualities.

I think it's funny that the ANC says it's for an open, non-discriminatory, multi-racial South Africa, and yet many of its supporters vote ANC for no other reason than they happen to be black. You admitted this yourself.

I admitted that myself (maybe even JustAsk did). It's a sad reality that. There are many reasons why people vote based on race:
- It can be because black people hate or don't trust white people, based on their past/present experiences.
- It can be because the ANC goes to these uneducated people and convince ("brainwash") them into voting the ANC.
- It can be because the ANC has done something better for them as opposed to the previous regime - bear in mind that the DA/FF+ or any other "white" party is associated with the past regime.
..etc

So it's the DA's (or any other party) job to convince these ANC supporters otherwise....and they have to be smart about it.
Calling them names or insulting them is obviously not going to get them into voting for the DA. Those uneducated people have the power to choose which party to vote. As much as the educated one hate it, the uneducated decide the future of this country.

I would go further and say.Many gets pushed to his colour.If an undecided black voter read this thread and see the responses from the "alternative to the anc" side,no guessing where his vote won't be.

You realise, of course, that the DA (even the FF+ sometimes!) willingly admits that AA/BEE is a necessary part of current South African society, and their manifesto clearly states that they will continue to support that policy until such time as it has served its purpose. Perhaps if old JZ had had the balls to debate with the DA, you might know that better.

(In fact, that's the main reason JZ doesn't want to debate. He can't tell lies about people when they're standing right in front of him!)

Again: the policies of the ANC are not the problem.
The incompetence, stupidity and greed of the ANC is the problem.

And before you dismiss that as being pure racism against a "black" party, remember two things:

1. The ANC claims to be multiracial.
2. Alec Erwin. Johnny de Lange. Carl Niehaus.


I fail? I've got my facts straight, unlike certain people I could mention...

Nah. They don't need his support. He can decide to vote for IFP, but ANC will still win.

Just a curious question. Suppose I vote for ANC and somebody votes ID, who has "more" rights to complain if the ANC effs up?:)
