WiFi security cameras

Just buy the Wyze cam v3. End of story. Brilliant with amazing clarity compared to Yi and Wyze v2.

One step up from motion detection, it has person detection set to go on at night, so if an intruder is in my property then Alexa will wake me up to let me know, and will warn the intruder that armed response is on the way.

How much are they per camera and can they work standalone without any other hardware or subscriptions?

Wyze = what you pay is what you get.
Their servers are very unreliable, person detection is a subscription service , lots of false notifications and very slow notification times
Sold it at a loss

I'm using the Aqara G2H with Homekit pointing outdoors thru a window. Not perfect but
No regrets

I wish Google worked in SA, the nest camera ecosystem is the best on the market zcloud storage etc.

Cloud storage from any brand doenst appear to be available in South Africa, at all.

I've been using a few Aqara devices around the house and am very impressed with them. It's just a pity that their local pricing is so high. I think it is the same company that brings in Yeelight products but these are at least priced reasonably.

What is the best value for money WiFi cam for remote monitoring and movement detection?

Also with an SD slot so it can record onboard would be a big bonus.

Can you not use a vpn to get around that?
No I tried (Xiaomi, Reolink and Wyze).

Could not get it to work, also the moment the VPN goes off the thing reset.

Was a major schlep (not something I'd put trust in and since this is a security system, that's a none negotiable.)

So I have Uniview Cameras and their shiat NVR, but that NVR also records to the FTP server at the office. Since any criminal just steals the NVR.

(I and office has fiber).

Any opinion on the Xiaomi cameras?

And :

Looking to put it in a window facing outside, and not interested in getting a proper outdoor camera like the EzViz Husky Air. Easier to power etc.

These won't be very useful at night. The IR leds of these IP cameras reflect off the surface of the window at night so you won't be able to see anything outside. I use them mainly inside the house.

For outside, I bought IP66 wireless battery powered IP cameras from Banggood (search 'Pripaso'). Easy installation and works well on the app. Only downsides are the batteries need to be recharged every 4-6 weeks and then, like all other outside cameras, there is the risk that it's easy to steal if it's outside.

Apparently you just switch off the Infrared led on cameras where this is an option ,and provide some light source outside.

See 2:04 at video.

Does anybody know anything about the following camera ( from a comment on Takealot you use it with a YCC365 app ) :

Is this YCC365 app just a general app for different camera brands, or is the Takealot link an actual YCC365 camera? Confused.

Also be aware that some cameras use PIR for motion detection, which doesn't work too well (if at all) through glass.....
