WildStar

@yster21 Much better review than i could give it!

on another note i reached Farside this weekend and DAMN I LOVE THIS ZONE!!!! i wish i could crash my housing plot onto it! @yster21 you are in for a treat when you hit lvl 28-30.

Great review @yster21! I share your sentiments for the most part. Also playing Eko/Exile. :)

Wish I had more time to play this game haha. Still only level 12!

Exactly how I feel about the game, Yster. I too worry about the combat becoming a little one dimensional. I have also healed enough of the BG's to know that the healing telegraph is sometimes a little too narrow and unforgiving. In the madness that is a pvp battle, where rolling around to avoid dmg is a must, you end up rolling out of a guys 1.5 second cast heal just as often.
Considering that latency does not always allow you to match up what you see with what the server sees, it can even be hard sometimes to whip your heal in a quick 35 degree arc to catch that guy dodging.

As far as leveling and interest go. I really do love the game. WoW has just taken most of my MMORPG leveling "umph". It is really unfair, because I know that it is no fault of Wildstar's that I am not chewing at the bit to get into the game and level up more. I can honestly say, that if this game and WoW, were put next to each other (At any point in WoW's history) I would choose this one.
I will still level though, I just hate that it is not as fast as I would have done it in my WoW days, before WoW sucked the MMO life out of me. :)

I feel you there @SoulTax... I'm feeling like a bit of an old man with regard to the grind after my multitude of WoW alts haha, but I know it's important and must be done before we can get into the meat of this game.

I agree with this. WoW has become a huge grind, all the time. You need to grind rep, grind normal quests, grind daily quests, grind mats, grind LFR, grind VPs, and to a lesser extent grind BGs and Arena. Repetition seems to be Blizzard's approach. I'm not saying Wildstar will be any different in the end, but we'll have to wait and see.

I hated doing quests in MoP, and at no point did I enjoy that for any of the expansions. I am most perplexed that I love the questing in Wildstar. Let's see if it lasts.

Question. I bought the deluxe edition but I had to sub too? So no free month with the purchase then?

As with most MMOs, you probably do get 30 days free, but have to create a subscription plan when you sign up. So just look at your account , somewhere it should say when it expires, chances are it will say something like you will only be billed in 30 days. So creating a sub does not mean you have been billed.

I know Elder Scrolls Online actually forced this, even though you got 30 days free, you had to put in credit card details for a subscription, they would then only bill you after the 30days, you then had to cancel before the 30 days are up to prevent being billed..... so i wager Wildstar work similarly, sign up, cancel immediately afterwards if you don't want to be billed.

It would not let me log in until I did so. I'll sub for now. Nothing went off my account, so all is good in the hood. Off to Zhur to make my badass medic! :D

Exactly this. You don't have to cancel immediately, simply before your 30 days free expires if you don't want to pay the sub.

Creating the recurring subscription when the customer is creating their account is simply better for conversion. It's a universal rule in ecommerce that customers are significantly more likely to buy secondary items (often when they don't 100% need to) when they have already committed to a primary purchase.

Once The world stories unlocked, I actually started reading and listening as the game almost felt like it restarted there.

Without spoiling either,

The story quest where you're given a sandbox in Grimvaults around level 40 was so awesome, afterwards I kind of wished you unlocked those <censored> to use on your housing plot

Did you download the client or purchase dthe box version?

If the Box version, how big are the patches before you can play or is the box version up to date?

Initial impressions so far (for a level 6). I like it, it's kind of slow walking around with sprint short lived. I took explorer as my path as I enjoy seeing the world. I do like how little side quests pop up here and there.

10meg file and then I am not sure as E started the installation. Total installation 17gig.

Bliksem, I hope the disc install takes up the bulk if not all of that 17GB. I would hate to install 5GB from disc and need to download 12GB as an example :D

I bought the box when I was over in the UK and ended up with a 12gig download and to make it worse, it failed the installation at 94% meaning it went through the downloading procedure again.
Did it a couple of times like that and now finally its installed and running fine.
