Basically, I have the newest AMD driver which supports DX12, but I cannot run DX12 on games such as GTA V and Battlefield 4. It just gives me the DX11 or mantle option. Should the game company release an update for the game or will DX12 only work with future games? Or am I doing something wrong? I am running the game in 64 bit in case you were wondering.

The games themselves have to be developed for directx12.

The game needs to be coded and made with DX12. So future games only.

the DX11 games should get some added value with windows 10. depending how they are using the API. Project Cars get a boost of about 30% out of the box. Just because the way the call to the API are made go now through a more optimized system.

but to truly get the maximum of DX12 the games must be updated. which can take some times and money for the companies. if they are used common engine and not in house engines, maybe the effort will be low.
we'll see in the next weeks if some games will get an update.

One more:
I can imagine that you it must be all complied:
- DX12 capable operating system
- DX12 drivers
- Game written to use DX12
