Will this Farmer also get away with murder?

so you guys are saying you just shoot and kill anything moving on your farm?

was this child really hairy?
was the guy not wearing glasses?

please send away for the rest of his life

some criminals get away with murder yes but does that mean we should all go around shooting innocent ppl because a few get away with it?

Common sense like this is always wolcome in this forum. Unfortunately it's very rare and far in between. Thank you killdoob for pointing out what should be the obvious.

I'm not sure why you bring up this specific case? Murder is murder and the trend is for murder to go unpunished in SA. That doesn't make it right. It seems that you brought up this case not because you are unhappy at the injustice that murder might go unpunished, but for other reasons. Am I wrong?
 
Why is it that on this forum if a black person murders or commits a crime against a white person ALL FORUMITES condemn the perpetrator but when it's the other way round WHITE FORUMITES always defend the perpetrator?

Why is it that you always bring up race? Ignoring for the moment the race of all involved I'm sure you'll agree that a "typical" case in which someone breaks into a house or hijacks someone and then shoots and kills the occupant is a lot more clear cut and easily condemned than a case like this, which appears at least on the surface to be accidental and in which the victim was quite possibly committing a crime (trespassing) and seems to be an illegal immigrant too. There are plenty of valid reasons there to have different views, none of which involve race.

Farm murders comitted by trespassers/robbers on farmers or murder committed by farmers on their workers/farm dwellers are all crimes that deserve nothing but condemnation. No one has the right to kill unless in self defense. This farmer did not even know what he was shooting at therefore there is no question of self defense in this case. This farmer was just as trigger happy as the farm murderers. I really don't see the point of trying to justistify his actions.

You dont hunt with a revolver. Any farmer could tell you that. Its hard to hit a target 10 m away with a revolver. I smell something fishy.
 
Some things are so predictable in this forum.

If a farmer kills a black person and gives an excuse that he thought it was a baboon (implication being that black people look like baboons), most of the forum members will respond that he made an honest mistake (and they know he is honest and he probably reported the matter to the police as he is white and we know white people are honest!!!!!!!) and of course, there are other murderers who also got scot free (as if this justifies it!!!!!!) and as should also go scot free. If everything fails blame the goverment. Bunch of racists!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad:

AFAIK the first person to mention race in this thread was Angelo, says a lot. Who exactly said he should go scot free, one thing that is clear though is that its not as clear cut a case as some others. And yes, the government does seem to engage in selective prosecution, whether its based on race or if they just go after the easy targets is another question that it probably won't help to get into.
 
he was "hunting with a revolver" only a townie would do something as daft as that. What would you "hunt" with a revolver? Slow moving tortoises?

Well is it not the government that keeps on classifying people according to race?
Even after the "struggle" when we were supposed to stop discriminating against people based on race ?

There was no need to explicitly mention race, the implication was clear. Of course, the government goes for selective prosecution, particularly the defenceless who do not have money to actively pursue legal matters.

I'm not sure if it was, or if thats what people intended to imply. Personally I would've reacted the same way if the farmer was black.

I have to admit I did find the "baboon" part quite disconcerting, it seemed to imply something about the farmers views but maybe I'm reading too much into it. The government is solely responsible for criminal prosecutions and as such should undertake that role equally.
