Workaround.
Bring up the group policy editor (gpedit.msc), go to Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates->Windows Components->Search. Enable the policies called "Don't search the web or display web results in Search" and the one right after it that's for metered connections.

Done some quick google - seems to be general issue with the new build search the web and windows bar is not working and you can't type anything in it

I ran CCleaner to fix registry issues, disabled my antivirus software (Avast), restarted my computer... and now, it looks like the preview build 10041 is now downloading 
Pity there isn't a progress bar so I can see how far it gets.
I can't seem to uninstall Avast on Windows 10 Technical Preview, nor can I install a new version, it gives me that Compatibility Issue warning.

I uninstalled 10041. In fact, just restored the Win8.1 image. Will wait for GA version. Enough playing with unfinished code.

A lot more bugs in the new version. Kaspersky not working. Worked in previous version.

What version were you coming from? Because that doesn't look like 9926. I could track the download of 10041 nicely like any download
My installation of Windows 10 Technical Preview must have been really weird - this was when I was on Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9926. I upgraded from Windows 7. The install completed and now I am rocking on Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10041
My pinned apps on the Start Menu got unpinned
Going to have to pin them back This new sound driver that I had been avoiding got installed - the sound just sounds so bad... it sounds like its operating much louder than it used to be - make screeching sounds here and there... gonna install an older version. Previously, the Dell Audio software wouldn't even show with this new driver, now it somewhat shows - the Equalizer part is missing 
Looks like Avast got uninstalled... I am happy...now I do not have to worry about trying to get it removed

I've also had a lot of issues after the upgrade. Some of my installed games stopped working. And on my Dell laptop (which I see you've also got) the driver issue was so bad, that I decided to reinstall Windows 7. Couldn't deal with the issues anymore.

Remember, during the beta programme an upgrade to a new build is often not an upgrade as we know it. Settings can and will be lost. Some apps can stop working, only to work again in later builds. This is to be expected.

Yes, if you haven't yet, join the insider program and download from there.
I'm on the insider program but it lists the 9926 version?
Or do I have to install 9926 and then update?

Hmmm. Maybe 10041 is only available via windows update.

The guys on the technical preview, what are you going to use after April 15th till release?
