I have a laptop with windows 10 and it has a SSD with a mere 32GB. I started off with 9GB free but have had 3 "criticle" updates that reduced it to 5,2GB.
Now the new update happened and it could not fully install due to insufficient space. I needed 5,7GB.
It reverted back and now I have 850MB space left and stuck with the same Win 10 I had.
WTF. I hate Windows now.

Make sure to delete the old windows, or run disk cleaner and delete the windows update files. Should free up a few GB...

Why did you buy a laptop with such a small hard drive ? An iPad or Surface pro has more space.

Surprised you can get a drive that small.

Zippy you are such a charitable person to pile on a person having a bad day. Way to go.

I run a Tablet with 32GB Storage with Win 10 updating without any problems. The secret to success is storage in the cloud with ALL manufactures bloatware removed leaving 16GB Storage Space. Try it sometime, it works.

I have now run Disk Cleaner and CC Cleaner and it increased my free space from 850MB to 1,5GB. A far cry from the 5,2 that I had before the failed update. My Windows.old is gone too.

The only reason I bought this 32GB Acer Aspire is for email and writing docs that I save on a flash drive. I don't need apps.

It is riddled with Acer bloatware but I am afraid to delete them and don't know how to save it in the clouds.

Why would you be afraid to delete it?
Get rid of that nonsense.

Use Disk Cleanup by going to This PC and right clicking on your hard drive with Windows installed.

You can also try and empty out your Temp folders:

1. C:\Users\(Username)\AppData\Local\Temp (you will have to enable hidden files and folders to view this)
2. C:\Windows\Temp

C:\ can be different depending on where you installing Windows.

You can also use the run command by pressing Windows key + R and copying the links above, you will need to replace (username) with your profile name.

Another way to free space is uninstall unused programs.

Another way is to empty out the Windows updates by deleting C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution not recommended as you will lose Windows update history, you will need to disable the Windows update service to be able to delete the folder. This can be done by opening the run command by pressing Windows key + R and typing in services.msc, scroll down to "Windows Update" and right click it and click Stop.

Seeing the comment above it is usually safe to delete the preinstalled programs that come with the laptop as you can usually download and install them again if required.

So far not even Microsoft can do it yet you are able to. I have removed all bloatware and even my Bluetooth drivers. I have no apps at all.
After running Win Cleaner and deleting downloads I still only have 5,3 GB left. Not enough to update.
Please share your secret with us and Microsoft.

Just take your PC to experts to resolve the issues. These forums cannot resolve your Win 10 issues, the advise from these forums are general ones which may not be specific to your problem - tnx

I have now found a way to delete the Restore partition to zero and have 10,5GB free. Initially it wanted 5,7 but I only had 5,2 free.
The more I freed up, the more it wanted.
Now the 10,5 is not enough as it needs 10,7. WTF.

I now deleted my camera and mail and have 10,9 GB free and will try again. This is the lowest I can go.

Correct. Forum cannot solve your Windows 10 issues, but Microsoft can. As long these issues are not resolved, there are not many Windows 10 devices on the market.
