My Lenovo has an oem key in bios, ran setup from the iso in windows 8.1 and it upgraded + activated with no drama to 10
I have a retail key so you're saying it should go easier.

I noticed tha Win10 warns you if you have many startup entries and also advise which takes most of startup time.I upgraded mine last night. It seemed to have added a few programs to startup, which I have since disabled including Skype. After than it appears to start up faster for me.

I just get an error when I run that.
I hope it's not that stupid "Something happened" error. It did that with me and I just gave up, downloaded the ESD, converted it to an ISO and installed it.

I "fixed" that with changing the locale to US as per some google result
