er, guys - my window 7 gave me a popup telling me it will expire in 13 days - i clicked the balloon and a window told me to "backup, and then install a Windows 7 Operating system"

I'm not sure because when i went to check in my system settings whether i'm still activated the bladdy thing disappeared? WTF?

i am still activated according to my system info ? what is this - is this what happened to pooky?

activation..something different to what you are expriencing.

win7 is still in beta, ergo you have a beta, betas expire, yours is expiring.

where is the mystery?

i thought it expires in 2010 or something? windows 7 isn't even out yet how on earth can they ask me to install it??

Not to sound funny you but if RTFM it was clearly mentioned that this would happen, and I think you get an extra 30 days grace, I think! not sure about that.

I'm sure a crack will be available soon though.

aw FFS, I installed the wrong bladdy OS.

thanx guys...i'll try to get my hands on a RC.

Keeper never needs a manual.

To upgrade from beta you need to:

- Extract the .iso contents to a storage location you wish to run the upgrade from (a bootable flash drive
or a directory on any partition on the machine running the old build).
- Browse to the sources directory.
- Open the file cversion.ini in a text editor like Notepad.
- Modify the MinClient build number to a value lower than the down-level build. For example, change 7100 to 7000.
- Save the file in place with the same name.
- Run setup.exe like you would normally and the version check will be bypassed.

If you're not upgrading:
Burn and mount, boot from it.

Either September or October!

Haha, I'm sure he means leaked. And they're talking about it being made today possibly! MS have closed their Technet and Connect servers (where partners get builds like the RTM) for the weekend, so probably prepping for the RTM release. Basically it should be leaked by the end of next week or earlier.

I know someone who this is about happen to as they are running the beta. Sadly they don't know much about computers and i'm a thousand km from them.

What should i do to help them. Is there a crack or something.

I'll do a full reinstall using the RTM in a few months when i'm closer to them again.

Any ideas?

They can get the RC locally and free too. If that's not an option then I don't know of any cracks yet, I don't think many people could care when it's just the beta expiring.

damn - 5 hours to go. looks like I'm gonna have to re-install again =(

What's going to happen If I don't - will Windows refuse to boot up?

i'm scared :D

Keeper you being silly man lol

13 july RTM is released, meaning as far as i know that is the final windows 7 release until we get our dvd's via purchasing, wait till july 13th to chow your bandwidth.

i'm not sure it's going to work tomorrow - it's asking me to backup my files and stuff...

oh well - just have to wait and see...

No it will work it will just shut down every 2 hours, you could try adjusting your bios and windows clock back a couple weeks hehe.

Dunno if that would work. Strange thing is i am running 7048 yet i have not received this message.
