Windows 7 Beta Available tomorrow

I wonder how many flavours there will be for Windows 7 and how much they will cost. Perhaps this time round I will actually buy windows if the price is right.

Else I'll just stick to XP which is free (seeing that you can't get it in stores anymore) :p

I think they are staying with the same flavors as vista... cause we are getting windows 7 ultimate...

It will be interesting to know how much it will cost when released.

to add to your jealousy, on the 28th of december I got a package from redmon with a gfx card, pinnacle 7010i tv tuner card to test the new media center in windows 7...

When I enquired to microsoft why they are sending me hardware they replied with:

ms loves me... lol :p

The first thing I thought when I saw this was "Looks like Microsoft is fairly certain that Windows 7 isn't going to be compatible with the hardware you already have so they're sending you some that is compatible"

Maybe that is how they will sell the new versions of Windows from now on? Bundled with the one or two pieces of hardware the OS is compatible with to ensure you can run it.

well i don't think that is the case.. upon joining the program i had to fill out several surveys and where they specifically asked if you have a tv tuner to test media center which i responded no to, cause i don't have any... Thus i guess they decided to send hardware to a selected few other than just hope that the software works with hardware...

It is build 7000 that got released to us.. but this is the official release

I saw an internal MS email this morning stating that there are 1710 builds of Windows 7 which would make it sound logic that the 1700 build would be the beta build. MS released a build (1700) to a closed community during December, and don't think that they would release a later build to the public.

Damn I downloaded the 32bit version.. Thought there were'nt a 64bit version of build 7000. Installed it last night :(

nooooo.. my LEGAL copy is already downloading...

wiff free hardware... :p

yes, but your legal copy expires because of trial key, mine has no expiry date :) And it works with windows update website, i downloaded 4 updates already, 3 drivers and bitdefender updates :p

Yeah check on wiki it is build 7000
I wonder if win 7 is going to be a bugger up like Vista

It is going to be beter than windows Vista, windoze RG and Microsoft BoB :D

This from Crunchgear:

"Better hurry up if you want to download the Windows 7 beta, since Microsoft is only allowing the first 2.5 million of you to try it out. Those of you with fancy TechNet and MSDN connections can grab it now; everyone else will have to wait till tomorrow, Friday, January 9.

You should note that, in order to use the Windows 7 beta you’ll have to be upgrading from Vista SP1. So if you’re one of those “Vista sucks~!” people you’ll have to figure something out.

And, obviously, you won’t want to be running this as your main operating system.

The beta will expire in August."

BTW. Server 2008 R2 will also be made available tomorrow to the public.

i'm running build 7000 and i didnt have to upgrade, i installed it on a seperate 80GB drive i had lying around.

I am quite enjoying windows 7, hardly been on my main operating system in days. So far i have had no reason to go back onto main drive, windows 7 running very smooth, no bugs, no bluescreens, no incompaitibility ....

Yeah, running the 7000 build, no upgrade was required, clean install. Windows 7 rocks for me so far.

They mean that should you be required to upgrade, and not perform a clean install, it would HAVE to be from Vista SP1.

Windows 7 rocks, been using the bet build for over 2 weeks now, :D
