Hi people..

so i've converted a customer to a new pc with win7.pro.32bit

They utilize a pc that needs to use fax monitor - worked 100% in xp.

in win7 the fax monitor doesn't pick up rings and doesn't auto-answer?

seems like a known problem...went out to buy a new mecer sm56 pci modem with software that is apparently win7 "ready" but its dated 2009 - so there goes that one :(

it only utilizes the windows driver and doesn't do anything itself.

has anyone got a freebie fax program that they can recommend that can detect the line ringing and picking up the fax?

last resort is fax2mail.

What about Windows Fax built into Windows 7? You can add it in Control Panel by Adding Windows Components.

Possibly test it and let us know?

What about the old X3 string command that tells the fax modem to ignore the line and proceed straight to negotiation?

hey peeps..

well it is the built-in win7 fax software that i am using....

i've set the line to ignore dialtone ect...its just not registering the rings and not picking them up...

doing a google search this is a known issue on win7 :(

What actual modem and what modem type have you set up? It sounds as though the modem is not recognising the ring, possibly set to wrong country type. Is the modem software set to the correct port?
