I set up Win 7 on my laptop earlier and the network was perfect. I could see every computer on my network, My wife's Win 7 Pro and 2 other XP Pro machines..

I go back there and theyre all gone. :wtf:

I spent a coupla hours messing around and searching the net to no avail.
I decide to have a look at the settings on my wifes pc. Mapped drives all still there and working, but when I check for the actual computers under network places, they're also gone.

So go back to my pc and manually map the drives and BINGO, they work, but no matter what I do I cannot get them to show up under Network places...

The only thing can think of is that I accidentally activated that stupid 'homegroup' crap... disabled it again straight off, but the damage was done. if thats the cause.

Had the same problem setting up two laptops and 1 server at home, the laptops could see each other but neither could see the server, had to type in the ip and map drives, still no icon showing up for the server though.

Is Network Discovery turned on for your current network location? Search control panel for 'advanced sharing settings'.
