Windows 7 RTM Build 7600 discussion

MS EASSY -- NOT

Dude - netbeui disappeared along with ipx and arcnet!
So you are one of the these rich monopoly guys that have all the latest of everything and not old legacy Win 98 and 2000 machines -- which STILL work fine.

Time to get with the times. IP is much more network friendly, no more nasty broadcast storm like you have with netbeui.
Netbeui is FINE on a small nework -- plug and play and forget :)

If its only a handful of machines its easy enough to set them all up using lmhosts files.
More PT --
For larger network consider using dymanic dns, or you could even try bonjour.

XP 64 bit SP 2 has NWLink -- netbios over IPX/SPX -- works fine for now.

In any case

MS Client / Browsing Service / Netbios / File & Printer sharing predates NETBEUI / IPX

Read up IBM and SMB

WHY netbios over TCP/IP :sick: WHY are MS still in the DARK ages when it comes to their Client / File sharing / networking

Why NOT to upgrade

:erm:
Broken Promises --VISTA

A list of good reasons which I am sure are still valid -- or no

If "Oom Battle" sometimes has sleepless nights about what is posted here --

He will be pleased to know that in America and even in REDMOND -- free speech still reigns supreme.

Until Homeland Security declare MS a "strategic" industry

Why don't you get it? I'm sure someone here has it and lives at least in your city...

Fourty Years Young

No - I've just been running TCPIP since WFW 3.11 days :)
Sorry to stand on your sand castle , but you are a bit of a late adopter of MS TCP/IP
XENIX ( Please note NOT XENEX )
Xenix was Microsoft's version of Unix intended for use on microcomputers;
Since Microsoft was not able to license the "UNIX" name itself, they gave it an original name.
The -ix ending follows a convention used by many other Unix-like operating systems.

Microsoft purchased a license for Version 7 Unix from AT&T in 1979,
and announced on August 25, 1980 that it would make it available for the 16-bit microcomputer market.
The initial port of Xenix to the Intel 8086/8088 architecture was performed by The Santa Cruz Operation.
Xenix varied from its 7th Edition origins by incorporating elements from BSD,
and soon (for a time) possessed the most widely installed base of any Unix flavour due to the popularity of the inexpensive x86 processor.

The only thing we learn from MS is that they learn NOTHING from MS ( not even the "X" factor  )

Okay, back 2 TOPIC....

Anyone have a local link for Win7 RC?
I can't disconnect and reconnect (using office's network/internet link.).

Running Win7x64 at home for 4 days now. She's nice !!! Having the South African backgrounds is a nice touch (depends on what u put for your install locale).

So you're willing to pay like 10-20% more? Get it from an online store. Incredible Connection will rip you off one time with 7.
