Windows 7 RTM Build 7600 discussion

You can upgrade:) I.ve found a sneaky way around it sayingy can't upgrade. Look in the Sources folder on the image for a file called cversion. Open it and change the MinClient value to 7000. Burn the image with the changed cversion.cfg and you can upgrade any version from 7000 upwards. Reminder that this works for all versions of windows 7..

I have 7600 385 leaked build. How would I verify that it is untouched and original? (Have already scanned with 3 AV and clean).

It seems to be running well, but I wouldn't know if there's a back-door or rootkit floating around!

I would say try checking the hash keys (if you know what the originals are :p)

Afaik, there is no activation for RTM as there are no keys. Best you can do for now is use the activator I posted and then use a watermark remover.

Why would you want to do this? :/ It's not a permanent crack and you get the watermark back which is just more trouble. The best you can do is leave the 30 day activation and re-arm it (up to 3 times for 120 days) until there is a proper crack that won't require you to replace the files from the RC, because you'll have to back up the originals and put them back when you use a real crack.

Not nearly worth it for a crack that won't work after July 2010 when the RC expires.

Someone did a pretty extensive test over at sevenforums.com (zidane's 16385 thread) where he checked for background threads and network connections being opened etc as well as AV scanners.

As this is RTM. Isn't activating it without a legally obtained key called pira...
(DJNgoma gets beat up by forumites for trying to utter the forbidden word).

If you don't know by now, I would recommend you stay on the OS you're using now!.

Windows 7 is so good, that it may actually confuse you!

I'm having a problem with Windows 7. It won't start upon installing!

It just says "BOOT FAILURE" if I don't keep the Windows 7 install disc in my drive when I bootup.

That was the first thing I checked. ;) I suppose I'll just have to run the recovery option or something
