Windows 8.1 | Grey Lock Screen

Hey people,

I've searched the 'net for what seems like ages now and I haven't found a solution to this annoying problem.

Whenever my PC shows the lock screen instead of showing the chosen background image it shows a grey screen. The clock and date don't show either.

Check out this photo of the lock screen:

It doesn't really affect the way the PC is used but it is annoying as hell.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Go into PC settings and select a valid wallpaper?

Also, is your copy of Windows activated?

Thanks, I should have probably mentioned what I've tried.

- Setting new wallpaper
- Setting wallpaper slideshow
- Setting default wallpaper

No dice! And yes, windows is activated and legit.

Apparently Windows 8.1 Update 1 causes it on some computers, update KB2919355.

Someone posted this workaround until Microsoft releases a patch :

Change the following registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\AutoAminLogon=1

to AutoAminLogon=0, then restart and check again.
