I have upgraded my PC to Windows 8 Pro.

I have hit my first obstacle when trying to activate windows online. Error 651. I have assumed this is that the software needs to be installed for the modem. I have turned off the Windows firewall, but the software still will not run.

Is this a common problem? Or is this a common problem to folk like me, who aren't too gifted in these things? :o :D

I have looked through the PDF for ideas or help. Nothing obvious there :(

Is this modem supported in Windows 8 or are there alternatives I can try?

I am not against getting a new modem if that's the solution (but please let me have ideas on new modems :o).

Most grateful, if you can help.

Software? From where?

You don't need software for that router/modem. Maybe drivers for your LAN/ethernet port, which you'll get from your motherboard manufacturer.

If all drivers are installed, try setting up a dial-up connection from within Windows with your ADSL username and password.

I'm not running Windows 8, so check if all drivers are installed. Then call your ISP to help you setup a dial-up connection.

Plug another device into the router or connect to the wireless to check if router is working. If not do a hard reset, by keep the reset button/hole in for more than 10 seconds.

Thanks for the info. I'll check this out. :)

Fixed your problem Mct? I had many issues with this Mega105 telkom router... randomly discovered that I had to manually specify the DNS address of your computers network card to point to the Routers IP address...... things just didnt work on automatic... but this might just be my problem too... maybe worth the try...

I'm still battling with this thing. Will try your advice too. Thank you.
