Anyone else having issues?

Other downloads are flying but the Windows Updates are hardly transferring and eventually fail, checking the fault codes doesn't return anything concrete. I was trying to update a Dell Inspiron 3537 (Windows 8 x64 SL) and after trying all the MS FixIt tools and guides I formatted and loaded the OS disc again. While it's given me a much cleaner install it still doesn't do updates, so I checked on my main PC and they weren't moving there either. Eventually I threw in the towel at around 1:30am this morning. Doing a bit more Googling it seems there is an issue with the OEM updates taking more time but I would have figured the pre-8.1 updates would download okay.

Not sure if related, but I'm having the same issues with WP8.

I will respond here....
Seems like I might have found a solution, or at least this worked this morning.

I was at a client and saw the, by now, famous red X shown above.

I DLed the 6 files needed (1 must be installed, ends in 442, before update, if not there.).

Then you have to install 5 files in an order as per MS site/instructions.
It still failed :(
I don't give up that easy, and decided to start on other files, meaning to install a small file, try 355 file until end.

I installed as followes
(looks up file numbers)
KB2919442(only if not installed already)
KB2932046
KB2934018
KB2919355 (the big file, 690MB on its own)
KB2937592
KB2938439

And that acheived SUCCESS!
:D
Feel welcome to try this :)

If this doesn't sort it out for you try going to services.msc and stop the Windows update service, then go to your Windows folder and delete the SoftwareDistribution folder, Start the Windows updates service again and check for Windows updates.

If it still doesn't work try this: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/windows-update-issues/en-gb
