Hey guys,

I'm a bit of n00b when it comes to routers so I'm seeking some advice on what to buy...
As the title says, I'm looking for a wireless router that supports both ADSL & 3G.

Would it be worth it to go for N or is G sufficient?
There'll only be 3 PC's using the network and all are within 10-15m of each other.

As for my budget, I don't have one cos I can't really afford it right now but need it. So the cheaper the better :p

I managed to find a Planet WNRT-625G for around R600. But I'm not entirely sure if it is infact 802.11n or that it will support ADSL. I'm not familiar with the brand either...
The product description says:

The WNRT-625G provides not only provides 3G USB interface for internet roaming but also supports one WAN port for wired cable or DSL service connection.

lemme no how this one performs if u get it

Yeah I saw that one as well. But it's a wireless G which is only 54Mbps.. kinda slow...
Not sure how much of a difference it would make to browsing speeds.

G is perfect for browsing, you won't even notice the difference it at 54Mbps. It's only when you come to move or stream large files that the speed becomes noticeable.

The WNRT-625g is a great router and very easy to use. It does work with ADSL, 3G and even CDMA200 (Neotel). I will really recommend this router!

TP-link. I've got a 3G wireless router and can add a wired ADSL router to the 3G router and get both connections with a fall over facility and costs no more than R600. Plus the TP-link's I've used are good quality and great after sales service.

I've had a DSL-2650U for about a year now - I think it must be another model you're thinking of, maybe the DSL-2760U ? ;)

ive had the 2650u as well, but have had the 2760 for a good couple of months now

According to D-Link support there are new models coming out soon. Perhaps an updated 2650? We'll see.

Would go for one of the Billion routers.
They have 3G, ADSL, and a WAN port for Iburst or whatever.

I have had my little router (B7402GX) for about 4 years (was actually the first one in SA) now and they keep on going. Also the Cell C ZTE modems work with them as well.

Just make sure that you're not buying a Billion router with WiFi problems, because I know there is 1 specific model that quite a few people on myBB has problems with w.r.t. its WiFi.

I'd recommend D-Link products over the other brands, mainly because their ADSL's SNR margins are better and they don't suffer from wireless issues like some of the other brands.

So ja, please do your research on the specific router before buying it.
