Withdrawal fees: SA banks compared

I apparently now pay nothing for using any atm to draw cash.

I so seldom draw cash I could not be bothered. I always just swipe my card and pay people with EFT. I wish we could pay @ the parking machines with cards also. Then I litterally would never EVER have to have cash on me.

i paid once with my card at a parking machine, but it seems to be a slow rollout,

i couldn't even pay with my card at OR Thambo the other day.

Pity there are few Capitec ATM's.

Did you read the article?

When you are with Capitec you pay R7 to use any banks ATM.

So as a Capitec client you pay R7 to withdraw R1000 at FNB, while a FNB client pays R12.60
So as a Capitec client you pay R7 to withdraw R1000 at Standard Bank, while a Standard Bank client pays R14.00
So as a Capitec client you pay R7 to withdraw R1000 at Absa, while a Absa client pays R15.45
So as a Capitec client you pay R7 to withdraw R1000 at Nedbank, while a Nedbank client pays R16.00

Also NB this comparison was done on the pay-as-you-use transactional pricing model. Packages have different structures. For example, on mine:
Cash Withdrawals
Your monthly fee now includes unlimited cash withdrawals at both FNB ATMs and non-FNB ATMs

How does your monthly fee compare with R4.50?
Free card swipes.
R1.00 withdrawing fees at certain shops. Most do if you ask them for free. Spar refuses.

Go Capitec

Mind boggling, really.

Limitless! For R120/m?

Go Capitec

Go Capitec indeed. As a transactional bank account, it can't be beaten (no smoke and mirrors 'value adds').

RE Spar, I now find I shop where I can 'bank'- those that don't play along lose my business.

My monthly fee is quite a bit more than that as it also includes a private banker, structured credit facilities and the like. However, up to now I've _also_ paid for withdrawals, so this is actually a nice improvement.

How does Capitec's online banking interface compare to FNBs?
