His parents are paying for his studies, he does not care if he waste their money. I'm sure his attitude would be different if he had to pay for his studies himself. This is why I say you should not give people like Sammy stuff for free.

He isn't a student.
Higher education needs higher thinking. You need it to pass highschool at a level to get into Uni.
He is being paid by the EFF to cause chaos.

Well one would assume there is some affiliation with Wits since Wits wouldn't send that SMS to a random number.

He may still be a student at Wits... at least by registration if nothing else.. But I do agree that there is an EFF component as well and SammyD is involved from what I can tell.

So what happens then. School opens. We write exams. Poor student does great. Can't complete studies next year because they can't afford it. Come end if the year university want fee increase passed onto students. Protests start all over again. This yearly cycle can't be a thing. Can we just do this and complete it one time.

If you can't afford the studies, then move the fsck on...

University is not a right, it is a priviledge that many people don't have the opportunity to experience. They do just fine in the real world.

Personally, School opens, you write exams, people do well. Some can't complete next year due to financing issues.. they either resolve them somehow or move on. Should students start to protest like they have done this year, then the police force are called in... protestors involved in violence, destruction of property or intimidation are arrested, charged, convicted and excluded from University. Until you little precious wall flowers realise that your opinion is but a myriad of opinions and yours holds no more weight than anyone elses and that there are laws to be upheld in this country.

We are the student body and the elected SRC. Why does the so called silent majority suddenly have an opinion when they didn't while electing the SRC which is now carrying out a mandate.

Their mandate is to listen to everyone. Not just who they think voted for them.
