Some of what he said is valid. We are losing skilled people in this country and I dont see that ending anytime soon. The brunt of most of the countries problems are placed on the taxpayer. His comment isnt far-fetched.

He is stating an unavoidable fact. If the taxes increase even more, many will not be able to keep up their lifestyle. This will cause many skilled people (who can easily emigrate compared to unskilled workers) to leave the country and look for a better job in Europe/States/New Zealand or pretty much anywhere else.

Yes it's been at 13-odd to the USD from a one time high of 7 to the USD.

So? They are very much part of the student movement and popular sentiment. Seen what happened at stellenbosch including the "open stellenbosch" movement? This is all connected and of course as usual in south africa race is integral to it.

Because violence is bad. When someone sets a tire alight and gets arrested it's valid. Starting fires is dangerous. Wind can blow those sparks and before you know it you've murdered a bunch of people.

There should be NO violence in such a protest. No intimidation. That there is, speaks to a large element of mob mentality here. This protest is not admirable for the reasons I stated before.

1. It was at the wrong time. Why do it during exams?
2. It did not give enough time for negotiations. There were no student petitions or student marches to parliament or deliveries of grievances.
3. There was intimidation and disruption of non-striking students and their activities.
4. There was disruption of innocent third parties' lives.
5. Alternative forms of protest would have been better. Eg, non payment of fees / boycotts etc.

The payments for no fee increases or no fees at all will come from tax which will worsen the economy.

Now how many people die because they can't get renal dialysis or heart surgery? Should these people also not get free treatment?

What? I know first hand whats happening at stellenbosch thank u very much. And it's very much racially motivated. Sasco guy was just echoing what has been said for months already.

All valid points but with so many protestors you're going to have some rogue elements.

Yeah UWC is close to the airport. Are they going to 'occupy' the airport or god forbid the runway and prevent planes from taking off :D "BUt sir it's a peaceful protest why are you using force to remove us from the runway"

Edit: Seems they have halted the protesters

Cops have apparently stopped UWC students en route to the airport to protest.

Cops used stun grenades and rubber bullets, according to UWC student eyewitnesses. They are all going back to campus in their droves because it's 'unsafe'.
