Not necessarily. There is a limit over which they are not obligated to accept coins. The limit varies depending on the coin but iirc for R1 coins they are not forced to accept payments of over R50.They can if its their policy. What they cant do is say they accept cash and refuse you if you pay in R1 coins
Can happen with a till as well.""ehh sorry, we offline"
Unless WW use Capitec for acquiring (which they don't), it will make little difference. Capitec issues would only affect Capitec cardholders. So what happens when the cashless systems don't work?
This is South Africa at the end of the day, anything is possible. How many times have we seen Capitec issues lately.
Agreed. Less counterfeiting, fewer cash-in-transit robberies, and more accountability for criminal and corrupt transactions. What’s not to like.I don't use cash much at all. Seems like a logical move.
People need to get with the times.
The coffee shop is. You are removed from reality, sorry. They will not say no to cash. Whoever dreamed this up is far removed from reality
Who exactly besides @purple face is freaking out ?Most SA stores will eventually go cashless.... but people will still be able to carry cash.
Nothing here for people to freak out about.
