Depends. Out on the beach and general day to day stuff, no. Inside a crowded plane with 250 mouth breathers. yes.

Why is MyBB endlessly making these covid threads, can't we just move on?

No.

I'm asking why the addition of sanitiser. Why do you think regular hand washing with soap and water, and not licking unwashed hands etc is no longer sufficient?
Oh sorry completely misinterpreted the question.

I think that regular hand washing with soap and water is sufficient for sure.

The addition of hand sanitiser for me comes in when you are out somewhere like woolies where you don't have immediate access to a basin with soap and water and you want to sanitise your hands after any major interactions with people and or objects like trolleys, escalators and doors etc.

So in the past I would wash my hands when I got home after woolies, but now I sanitise two or three times while at woolies and before getting into my car etc.

is it that hard to give people freedom to live their lives, how they see fit?
is it that hard to let natural selection go its way.

if your 70 and at high risk, why be out and about, when you KNOW you can die from a flu?
If you can die from Covid and are at high risk, get the jab, and move on.
Society makes laws to protect people from "people just trying to live their lives".

Its why we have laws around illegal drag racing in streets, or drunk driving, or operating a public bus while high. It saves lives for the rest of society from people who put others lives at risk knowingly or unknowingly. The laws around Covid are no different.

If you are 70 with diabetes but living healthy and managing your diabetes you could well live another 20 years. Flu would probably not kill you, under 2% chance I would guess, so why not be out and about. Perhaps you have little choice and have to actually go get some food. Covid may have a 70% chance of killing you though, shortening your life substantially. Obviously better to stay home but if Covid is getting around more eventually the care workers at old age homes get it and spread it amoung those people.

I also keep using old people as examples as they are the obvious case but if you look at how many much younger doctors and nurses have died to this or had the horrible long term side effects I just fully believe this is worth fighting and should not be ignored. Anyways. Thanks for the discussion, always interesting to learn other views, hope you have an awesome day and that you and your loved ones are safe and well.

Not even for old people. Very low actually.

Very few affected by those nasty side effects, MSM exaggerated it heavily. Only common after effect is fatigue.

We can't live in cottenwool though...
What does that even mean? It keeps coming up. No one has asked anyone to live in cottonwool. We have just been asked wear a mask, not go out or into the public if you have symptoms, and keep your hands clean. Its really not that big a deal anymore. Lvl 5 lockdown was a different story and I felt a massive overreaction but currently I don't have much of an issue with the existing rules.

these threads reminds me of this. anti-vaxxer/anti masker

It is not an extreme emergency. Simple. By all means, protect yourself any way you choose though.

Your guesstimate numbers are way off.

Even if its 5% its too high for my liking.

The fatigue was the main one I was referring to. One of my sons friends mom (aged 35 and healthy) has this and for months after her infection she had to sleep upwards of 14 hours a day and had zero energy to do much even when awake. Lost her job as a result. Its fairly nasty for the few it hits like that.

They are still trying to pin down the numbers of the "long haulers" but it is not looking good:

Keep in mind these effects can hit people of any age but are more likely if you had a severe case of Covid but survived.

^^ Very difficult for them, a bit like the yuppie flu that affected some of my family in the past.
But still doesn't justify... cottenwool.

Yes, didnt have flu or allergies really this year since wearing the mask.

There is enough idiots out there who will have covid and refuse to wear masks.

So will happily wear one. Also all that pollution (no electric cars anywhere in sight).

May have to stock up on Potassium Iodide pills. Not sure when Koeberg will melt down.
