Do you know what happens to those germ droplets?
Of course you do. They... drop. To the floor. Rather quickly.

And get through the gaps on all amateur masks.
And also through gaps in most professional masks.

So actually it's politic-science.
Masks are really there to prevent the spread from the source not so much to prevent you breathing something in. That is my understanding.

Oh, you asked a question expecting an answer?

Wear a mask all you like. It's like one of Bill Engvall's "stupid signs" makes it easier for the rest of us to know how to deal with you.
No need to get so defensive. I ended post #73 with a question.

Guess I can type it out here again for you.

What is wrong with me wanting to continue wearing a mask and sanitising?

Yep, but the same still applies - it gets through the gaps.

These considerations have been discussed to death in the main covid threads. Plenty of science says it's mostly ineffective.

Plenty of science also says it is effective. Its which science you chose to believe.

Again, wear a mask all you like. It's like a signal to the rest of us, a sign if you will, that you think a certain way and notifies us that you need to be interacted with in a certain way.

Oh, and sanitising? Like basic hygiene is a sudden and miraculous new invention? Why weren't you washing your hands before all this kerfuffle?

And we see it exactly the same way. Funny that both groups think the other group is stupider for not following their way of thinking. Lol. Life is awesome, humans be stupid in so many fun ways (including myself in that group, not intended as an insult).

Wearing masks for a small mortal threat... more st00pid, surely?
:whistling:

No need to pass judgement onto people who wear masks man. We are all just people trying to get through life.

Sanitising and washing hands are two different things. I have always washed my hands but I didn't carry a bottle of sanitiser everywhere I went prior to COVID. I do now though and sanitise frequently throughout the day.

Why?

Noddefok. Not wearing it now. In plane and in shop where required. I try to go to shops where they don't require it. I notice some guys are doing a roaring trade since not requiring people to wear masks. Like the guys I bought from during the liquor ban. They went out on a limb for us then and now have customers for life.

Regarding the legal requirement, been through a traffic stop and road block without anyone telling me to put on a mask.

My odds of dying if I get Covid are very small, even being 41 and a bit overweight. However masks are most effective for preventing spread, not preventing you being infected. The reason I wear a mask is for the small risk reduction it gives me, but more so for the massive risk reduction it gives the 70 year old man with diabetes I walked past in the shop the other day. For him if I am infectious and don't know it it could very well save his life.

Tried to explain that in the other thread and Pinball wizard basically mocked me for trying to save a life and asked me "If I know how life works". I do, and actually have empathy for strangers unlike him, so I wear a mask. There is nothing anyone will post that will ever dissuade me from the scientific evidence I have already seen that lockdowns and masks and sanitizer reduces death from infection. Everyone that ignores all those things increases death. Its a fact. I know it, no matter how much others try deny it or absolve themselves of any guilt. Every person here who spouts that its a low chance of killing should just study what happened in every single old age home this thing spread through. It can and does kill. If all the low chance of dying people act like you guys and say screw it let it spread and stop all preventative measures millions more will die who never had to die. Like I said earlier, you be sociopaths. FACT.

Is it that hard to be a little considerate.

Reminds me of the Shakespeare play - "Out damn spot" ;- )
(MacBeth?)

Just seems odd to those who think it nuts, but understand why you think it helps.

Bottom line - can we trust authority these days. IMO, not at all.........

Sorry maybe I should clarify. Washing hands with soap and using alcohol based sanitiser are two different things in my world. You are right, both are types of sanitisation. I only sanitised my hands with soap and water prior to COVID. Post COVID I sanitise my hands both with soap and water and alcohol based sanitiser products.

However, there is a value judgement attached to wearing a mask. There is no medical reason to wear it outdoors, yet you are forced to do so in many instances. (there is possibly also no medical reason to wear one in many other instances in which one is forced into doing so, but that's another debate). Buckling to the draconian and unjust laws of a country says something about the person who would do so rather than stand up for their rights.

The fact that the law as it now stands says I can be arrested for standing outside my house on the pavement, all alone, not wearing a mask is insanity. There is no reason behind that and I will never give in to a government that abuses your and my rights like that.
