XBMC Tips, Tricks, Troubleshooting

Why use both a keyboard and mouse though? In fact why are you guys still using keyboards and mice? With Android remotes, flirc, and conventional IR remotes, I don't see why the keyboard and mouse are longer necessary...

I've managed to get it looking more to my liking. I like the simplicity in some instances but for the life of me how do you specify/set the menu's to scan specific folder/smart playlists...? Also where do you create them.? I have four categories--> Movies, Anime Movies, TvShows and Anime but I cannot set them to access those folders. All that I have managed to do is by adding a submenu item/icon which will access my old smart playlist but that doesn't look/feel right.

It is beautiful and very functional. I've set mine up to play trailers automatically when pressing info for a movie and it is such a cool little feature. The viewtypes and animations are also buttery smooth and stunning...

Not really sure I like it.

Try a skin called Bello which is in the official repository. I found it to be exactly what I wanted for now.

I had a look at Bello once before and it was a whole lot of purple. Put me off...
 
Just discovered an awesome addon - http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=174736

XBMCTorrent allows you to stream a torrent as you are downloading it. So no more waiting for the movie or TV show to download. You can watch it as long as your line can handle it. It also allows you to save the file afterwards too. All it does is simply download the file sequentially, and integrates with XBMC so you can view it immediately, as you download it, as in streaming it but with the option to save it as well...
 
Nice. I'm definitely installing this tonight.

I only use torrents for UFC fights and it will be great to watch the fights as I download.
 
Aeon Nox 5 preview skin for Gotham has been released - http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=183504

I believe the intention is for Nox 5 to become the default skin for XBMC moving forward, and it has therefore been kept clean, small, and efficient. There will be mods for it, no doubt.

More viewtypes and other goodies to come closer to a full release...
 
which android remotes are you guys using? i`m using yatse, but I would like something that takes advantage of the real-estate of a tablet screen.

I've tried them all and return to Yatse time and time again. Musicpump is pretty good looking but lacked a few features that I can't recall now. Xmote is another good looking remote but I didn't test it on a tablet. It was also heavily lacking in features in comparison to Yatse.

I am however having issues with Yatse on all devices - it opens multiple instances of itself whenever something is played which requires going back multiple times to close it, as well as serious loops when trying to send YouTube clips to XBMC from my phone. Was reported to the dev but he can't recreate it on his side, which is odd because it happens on an S3, S4, Note 2, Note 3, Note 10.1 tablet and Tab 2...

have you tried the unlocker? is it worth it?
