Xbox Series X / S

Well, I want Skyrim but dunno when I'm gonna play it as I'm mostly playing Warframe. So I rather want to BUY it, then I can play it whenever I want.
Game Pass is fine but if you only play like 2 games then it's a waste.

I usually buy games with massive replayability.

My piel is hard to play Borderlands but ai tog, pity the devs didn't make it keyboard mouse friendly. Ek witti so mooi oor daai controller in soot 'em up games nie.

Has anyone else received a black friday gift card from MS loaded onto their MS account balance? I see they do this every year for random users, I received one but can't use it. It is in GBP value, so probably can't use it in SA.

Nope never received one

Need some help please.

Got the S Series.
Was thinking about how to hook it up to a soundbar and to the TV.

Then the wife comes home today with a soundbar from Cash Crusaders without me knowing about it. R549, nice deal for a small 2.1 channel bar.

Though it has ARC Hdmi support, my old Hisense TV doesn't.

Jumped on YouTube and saw these Hdmi extractor boxes.

Anyone else using them?

Is this one from Takealot good to go? Is it a good deal? There's a review from 1 person saying it is.

Thought I'd check in here as well, thanks.

What about using optical in from your soundbar to TV.

Then use a universal remote to control everything.

Have you tested that Soundbar? I mean R550 is really good

Optical isn't an option, it's only a little thing, link below.

It's doable in my little office/relaxation space of 3mx5m, just looking for a bit of oomph for Netflix and gaming.
Connected via Bluetooth from my phone and it's OK for the price, nothing mind blowing about it.

But nicer sound than the TV speakers for sure.

This is the one at the Linky.

Now I'm wondering though if I can get away with Audio out from the TV to the soundbar's Aux In.
These are the options for audio inputs on the soundbar.

TV has an audio out as seen on the bottom left of the 1st Figure below.
Think it'd work if I just used a 3.5mm cable with a male connection on either side?
I'll see if it does, though I've also ordered the Hdmi splitter/extractor for COD from Takealot, to get here on Tuesday

If this el Cheapo fix works with the 3.5mm cable, I'll just send the driver back with the package and cancel the order. Or try to cancel it before the time. Or just use their returns policy.

Have a similar setup as yours but opted for earphone to earphone and it works fine:

TV -> Soundbar

HDMI splitter was not an option for me as I have Xbox/PS5 and Media PC that all have their own HDMI cables.

Edit: As for remote audio control, I have a All-in-one remote that replaced my TV remote. Initially learned the TV controls for everything bar audio which I manually replaced with the soundbar's volume and range options.
Bonus points: Remote also works to control Xbox

No sub with it? I've got a Sony HT-X8500 without a sub and the bass isn't bad, not as good as something with a sub would produce though.
I also initially got it for my office but the sound stage of a sound bar needs you to be further back by the feels of it.
Though the price isn't bad, I'm sure I've seen it at R700+

Ja, that was what I meant in my earlier post.

So I went and got a cable and got audio running out from the TV to the soundbar, but there's a constant hissing.
Thought it may be the quality of the cable, so tried my Gaming Headset and the same result.

So I drew the conclusion that the audio out jack must either be dusty or poor quality.

Decided to let the soundbar go, returned it for a cash refund.
Then my wife saw a little 2nd hand Hisense bar fridge and ended up spending another R600 on top of the refund lol.

Anyway its going to the boy child whose moving into the granny flat.

I'll hold off on the soundbar till I can get a 40 inch UHD TV first with all the required specs.

Thanks for all the advice from everyone that replied.

To the beers and Rum on my 1st weekend off in a while!
