Xbox Series X / S

But the combat looks like Doom
Yeah, it's based on the Creation Engine which is the same as the others, sure it's version 2, but I mean version one was baiscally a modified version of Gamebroyo, their engine coding isn't really geared for high FPS

Starfield is going to force an upgrade on my side from the old trusty Xbox One. I don't really want to spend money on another console, but this looks to good to resist. I think I'll try and snag a 2nd hand series X somewhere in the next few months. I don't want to struggle with storage space and thus can't see the point in getting a series S.

Games are smaller on the S, also I've had a few games on the storage but yeah if you can get an X for cheap get it

Starfield locked at 30fps on Xbox, guess I’ll be paying on PC.

I saw he mentioned 4K on X and 1440p on S at 30fps. Spoke about locking it on consoles and having ample headroom for intensive scenes to avoid drops.

If it's a rock solid 30fps with good frame pacing and no screen tearing then it should be fine. If they use the right amount and type of motion blur it should smooth things out nicely.

It's a day one play for me. Busy looking at getting the collectors edition with the watch and case.

Maybe a performance mode is in the works. Will wait and see

Until yesterday, I assumed Starfield would be godawful. The previews had such an unoriginal, jank vibe about them. Like No Man's Skyrim.

But they were either holding back big time or (more likely) had enormous assistance and oversight, because I cannot believe the preview last night is for the same game. It looks right up my alley. More realistic space travel than No Man's Sky, a vastly superior ship customisation system, space combat also miles better, gunplay looked surprisingly solid and the planet vistas they showed were downright beautiful.

If they can ensure the game is fun to play for long hours and doesn't feel like a grind for resources most of the time, this is going to be an epic time.

Yeah I am going to allocate my SARS rebate for that collectors edition.

I agree. This new trailer really sold the game to me. Looking forward to it.

Conversely, I was hugely looking forward to Forza Motorsport, yet something about the trailer made me far less keen. Mediocre graphics, the irritating AI voice, and even the cover art looks like a low-quality bit of fan art.

If it's a good game, the marketing team did a horrendous job of imparting that fact.

Felt this way about Avowed...the initial CGI trailer 2 years ago looked very interesting but sheesh, the actual gameplay from yesterday looked quite rough. Maybe it's just me though
