Hi bought my box from Kloppers too. Everything worked except Netflix. The same tvq-pm-100 (5.2.5) error. My box arrived with Marshmallow (Android 6.0.1) and Netflix didnt work. I tried a variety of setups, resets, etc but could not get Netflix to work. DRM Info reported unprotected too. I then upgraded to Orea (Android 8.0.0) but that didnt solve anything. I made sure my Netflix app is up to date. Nothing wants to play on Netflix. Plays 10-15 seconds and it stops. I tried this on a variety of TVs (from old to new) as well as different HDMI cables. DRM Info continues to report HDCP unprotected.

Today I called Kloppers and besides a few general tips (all of which I tried) the only other thing they told me was that they got confirmation from the suppliers that Android 8.0.0 is "too new" for the Mi Box and that I should not upgrade. That seems a bit silly, especially since the box gives you the option and surely they tested it before releasing it. Whichever way my Netflix didnt work on Android 6.0.1 either so that's definitely not my issue. Reading up online some sources suggest faulty hardware.

I sent my box back to Kloppers. They told me they'll send me a replacement device. However before I made the phone call I mailed them and got a different response in that the device should go to their repair center, that they are aware of the issue and that they need to flash firmware on my existing device. So i'm unsure at this point whether I'll get a new device (which I'd prefer as I still think the hardware is faulty) or whether they are simply going to downgrade my device, in which case I know it wont work as I tried it on Android 6.0.1. Downgrading also seems risky. I've read many people have attempted to downgrade themselves and while they succeeded this lost their serial no and DRM info, rendering the box useless to Netflix and other services. If they do end up doing that I hope they know what they are doing as there is no official downgrade path from 8.0.0 to 6.0.1.
Xperia - Please let me now your experience with Kloppers and whether you succeed. Netflix was one of the primary reasons I bought this device and without that I'm not really seeing the point in having it as my previous "Google Cast only" worked fine. I just wanted a better TV experience without the need of a tablet to control what's playing on the TV.
HDCP unprotected error appeared once on the screen but on the Nvidia Shield.

You get what you pay for, I guess. But even in that case I used to have much cheaper droid boxes which didn't have these type of issues.

I would prefer an Amazon TV stick, but that does not yet support DSTV or Showmax

I took my box back to Kloppers in P.E. They did a cursory check of the unit after I explained the problem and the solutions I had sought online. They then promptly swapped out the box for a new one, after checking in store whether DRMInfo reported the correct HDCP status.
No mess, no fuss, and total kudo's to Kloppers PE

Dont know if its specific to Terrarium, but luckily I dont have that sync issue on Netflix, Kodi (local hdd) or DSTV now.

Have you tried the month free trial of Netflix? Does it still happen?

Xperia I phoned Kloppers in Bloemfontein yesterday and the next day the replacement device was delivered. My HDCP status also now shows correctly and Netflix seems to work using my computer monitor. I'll try with my TV at home tonight, but something is definitely fixed. I'm really impressed with Kloppers! Definitely big on customer support.

Never had any issues with them myself, and I am a regular walk in customer.

Xiaomi really need to do some better QA, I've read about that issue a couple of times now. Kloppers probably just got a bad batch, there is no fix for it, you have to replace the unit and hope the new one shows the HDCP status as protected.

Yeah a bit better Quality Control from Xiaomi might not go amiss, but I have read a whole lot more hassle free, experiences, than bad, and keep in mind, the people here are generally those who like pushing things to the limit. Also a lot of the issues do get addressed in updates, albeit not as fast as some impatient types would like. ;)

Is anyone using the Plex app on this box? When I chose content that has subtitles I select the subtitles before I start it. However, it doesn't kick in. I always have to start the series or movie, then pause then chose the subtitles, stop it, play it again. Highly annoying if you're watching a series where it keeps switching to the next episode automatically.

The Mi Box is on special today on Takealot daily deals for R1199 instead of the original list price of R1499.

There's probably a better thread to ask, but I guess you guys should also know. I need a new wifi AP, any suggestions for a budget friendly AP? Around R300 to R500
My old one was a cheap stuff D-link, that I bought for R280 few years back.

EDIT: Will one of these do? : https://www.takealot.com/d-link-dsl-2740u-wireless-n-adsl2-4-port-wi-fi-router/PLID37016430
https://computermania.co.za/store/product.php?product=tp-link-td-w8961n-300mbps-wireless-n-adsl2-modem-router

EDIT : Oh, I'm using a WISP, so my setup is basically an antenna and mikrotik router on the roof and the cable running into the house.

How does the Mi box handle WIFI connectivity? I'm currently borrowing an OTT box from a mate to test my line speed, but I've noticed at random times the WIFI seems to just disconnect. I de active and re activate the WIFI in settings and carry on until it randomly disconnects again. This particular box has an Ethernet port that I want to test tonight, but if WIFI can be an issue and the Mi box only has WIFI, should I look at something else. My router only runs on 2.4Ghz and currently about 2m from the OTT box, but would be about 12m and 3 walls to where the Mi box would be sitting.

WiFi is not an uncommon complaint, but also not a universal one. FWIW, my experience has been fine. I had a Tenda ADSL modem with WiFi which was 2.4GHz only, and now I have a D-Link WiFi router with 2.4GHz and 5GHz. My Mi box never had WiFi issues on either of them.
