WiFi is not an uncommon complaint, but also not a universal one. FWIW, my experience has been fine. I had a Tenda ADSL modem with WiFi which was 2.4GHz only, and now I have a D-Link WiFi router with 2.4GHz and 5GHz. My Mi box never had WiFi issues on either of them.

I too have had no wifi issues thus far. The new box is working flawlessly with Netflix, Showmax, DSTV, Terrarium, Kodi, etc.
Amazon Prime is still a little iffy, with whatever I'm watching stopping occasionally, but granted, I am using the apk ripped from the Shield.
In terms of connectivity, remember one can use the USB to Ethernet adapter. https://www.takealot.com/kanex-usb-...yjy9RdhL6VF_2fudX66jbWky2thAPvIxoCQhcQAvD_BwE

Kinda got that feeling for the price, but the brand looked the same as the unit I'm borrowing - the 1 I'm borrowing only has 1gig ram and is running on KitKat (and it seems to be running fairly well), so was hoping that this might have been an option

How does the Mi box handle WIFI connectivity? I'm currently borrowing an OTT box from a mate to test my line speed, but I've noticed at random times the WIFI seems to just disconnect. I de active and re activate the WIFI in settings and carry on until it randomly disconnects again. This particular box has an Ethernet port that I want to test tonight, but if WIFI can be an issue and the Mi box only has WIFI, should I look at something else. My router only runs on 2.4Ghz and currently about 2m from the OTT box, but would be about 12m and 3 walls to where the Mi box would be sitting.

My previous MiBox (the one that had the HDCP fault) had the Wifi disconnect issue on Android Oreo (8.0.0). I'm not sure whether it's related to Oreo or just that the box was faulty in general. I've read online that a few people had issues with Wifi dropping on the updated Android Orea (8.0.0). My replacement box is running the original Android Marshmallow (6.0.1) and have no Wifi drops whatsoever. I'm not going to update again as the updated 8.0.0 seems to create more issues than fixes.

Also - You can still use Ethernet on the Mi Box. There is one USB port. You can use a USB to Ethernet adapter. I've tried this and it works great. If you require more USB ports just get a USB hub. In fact Takealot sells USB hubs that already include an ethernet adapter and they are quite cheap.

People that are part of the beta program are running firmware that fixes the Wi-Fi, it probably won't be that long before it rolls out to everyone seeing as the NTFS fix was quite fast.

Was adding it to my cart then Internet hung up on me.... Needless to say, it wasn't in my cart and now the deal is over.

Helped my Boss buy one this morning, then things went haywire, and now I wanted to get one for myself and special is gone. Ah well, wait awhile longer, I suppose.
