Xiaomi Redmi Note 4/4X

Can't connect to Vodacom LTE.

Hi guys, glad I found this forum.
I bought a redmi note 4 in October last year from Makro, from reading this forum I think I may have a redmi note 4x since my inferred and speaker are bundled on the right and not separated with the infrared in the middle. I have a octa-core processor which means I'm running the snapdragon processor, on the box it got a sticker saying global version.

That said I cannot connect to Vodacom LTE network, I'm based in jhb, but even when traveling to Durban over December I was not able to pick up LTE.

I have been to the Vodacom shop and they say LTE service is activated on my sim card. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

So my note 4x is not recognising any of the sims that's installed. Just happened today. Says no Sim card at the top row. Restart hasn't done anything.

Anyone else had this problem?

OK nevermind, the sim tray popped out by itself and was sticking out by like half a mm. I had a cover on so didn't notice.

How old is your sim and does it connect to LTE on other devices? Have you tested another SIM in your phone?
I will actually do that this evening... I will swap with my wife and see what the difference. So simple... Why didn't I think of that, thanks sharkBait

Redmi 4X vs Hifi Corp 4X .. WTF.

Hi All.

Found something interesting:
Bought 3 off Redmi 4X phones. Ist one for my daughter. Bought from HiFi Corporation.
After we looked at it, played around, bought another 2, one for wife and one for me to replace old iPhone 5.
These other 2 were purchased from Takealot.

The one from Hifi Corp quickly identified Miui update and was updated to 9.2 ... over air.

The other 2 via Takealot refuses updates (at 8.5.5.0) and also refuses to work with dual SIM. (my daughters 4X works fine with dual SIM) Paperwork in box has a slip that says Slot one for SIM only and slot 2 for SD card ONLY. Phone will not see a second SIM. Phones will not use SIM in slot 2 if only SIM inserted. Hell I bought it because it was dual SIM. It also comes preinstalled with a Vodacom app!!

Tried to update firmware: Bootloader locked. Also got some illegal jumbo reported back to. WTF. Now waiting unlock from Mia themselves so I can get past the South African restrictions. Don't get why they did this.

You can thank vodacom for that.

I got my unlock code from xiaomi in about 15mins

They don't want you to be using cheap data from another provider. They want your monies man!

Can anybody please point me in the right direction to get a Note 4's screen fixed?

My Daughters brand new RN4 does exactly the same - I see this is a slightly older post - Are there any known fixes for this? The phone is running MIUI 9.2.1 Android vers 7

Love the phone by the way, bought it locally from MIA at R2700, so now want to buy one for my son and it has gone up to R3100 Grrrr!

Also have this problem, workaround, set preferred network type to prefer 3G. From what I could gather, looks like phone wants to connect on MTN 4g network and then freaks out. In town with full telkom network, runs fine on 4g, but outside town when on mtn, works on Edge and 3g/h+ then when I think it gets MTN 4g, that's when the reboot begins.

Also having GPS problem when mobile data is connected, workaround, download offline maps and if navigating, disable mobile data. Don't know if the sim slot makes a difference, my telkom sim is my second sim, Cellc is my first.

My MIUI version is Global 9.5.4.0 - Android 7

So last night my Untangle server blocked an automated update from my Redmi Note 4.

Is Xiaomi loading malware on our phones?

There was an error screen about an app not updating which I can't find now. Is there a log somewhere on the phone where I can go back to to see which app it was.
