Xiaomi Redmi Note 4/4X

Not a fan of the gold... Maybe I should just get it for the local warranty? Or import a 4x for slightly less with no warranty?

I am not the biggest fan either, but have grown to love my WeChat Note 3. I really want a Note 4 but trying hard not to bite the bullet.

I would not buy gold again though. After 2x white Samsung S phones, I would like to try a black Note 4 when I am ready or I will wait for Note 5

If I was you, I would buy local. That price, even for the black model is low enough to cover the extra peace of mind.

Only reason I bought internationally was because it was not available locally. The R1000 saving was just an extra bonus.
 
Is the local Note 4 IPS or AMOLED? Were there AMOLED versions released?

yeah was planning to use that as well
but the more I look at it, the more I dont want the gold...

direct import will save 450 excluding any duties
What did you guys get charged for duties?
 
I bought the Gold Note 4 on Takealot and just waiting for it to be delivered. I'm worried about the screen getting scratched as I wait for an imported protector.

Is there anywhere I can get a screen protector fast?

I believe it comes with a plastic one on, you could use that for now.

Else I have a redmi note 3 and found a Huawei protector that fits pretty well. Not perfect, but it's something.

I went to a cell shop and they where kind enough to help me find one that was kinda OK. Most cell shops also have generic screen protectors that also work.

If you want a clear back cover I have one for the total price of "come fetch" during the week in Kya Sands

I birdie told me over the weekend we getting MIUI 9 (Beta) on the 18th of August for Redmi Note 4X. It's based on Android 7.0.1 and 7.1.2 will follow at the end of the year.

Oh and Redmi Note 5A going to have Snapdragon 630 SOC and Redmi Note 5 will sport Snapdragon 660 SOC (Both to come out with MIUI9)
