Xiaomi Redmi Note 4/4X

Interesting. I'm on a custom ROM... Second one.

But also have a Telkom SIM in slot two for data. Will try swap them around. Been like this for a year now though.

When I bought the phone, I was still on data package with CellC, my sim 1, it never wanted to go on Roaming on Vodacom, but almost never had problems with signal. Had one random reboot. Since my Telkom Mobile sim in slot 2 was never use for data then, it also never cause a problem. When my CellC expired and I switch to sim 2, Reboot all the time when trying to go on MTN 4g roaming (I assumed, because like adrianx said, if forced om 3g / h+ no reboot). Then I ported my CellC number to Telkom Mobile too and switch to sim one for data again, it works no problem. The telkom Mobile sim in sim one I kept on the default Telkom plan. Sim 2 is on there mobile broadband, so if they have great Telkom only data deals can switch to that sim, just disabled the data roaming. Hoop it works for you too.

I got a 4A from Takealot and am very happy with it. MTN sim for phone and Telkom sim for data. All working well.

I bought 3 of the 4A's, 2 for friends and 1 for my dad, he's also on CellC and Telkom Mobile, got no issue like I've got with my note 4. My friends were on Vodacom also no problems. They mest up something in the note 4, but still nice phone.

Redmi 6 is around the corner sporting a notch design.

So I saw that hifi corp had a sale of the Redmi 4a,4x and the Note 4, but they didn't have any stock when I went to go get my dad one, pity no one else has had these sales.

My phone was fine after turning off lte... Really weird bug. Back in the Cape, LTE on, and everything working fine again.

Yeh - will swap them around this evening.

Weird that it also does this on custom roms.

Thanks so much. I actually feel silly for asking but in the models that hi-fi corp stock's, what's the difference between the Note 4 (R2200) and the 4X (R1800)

For one, 4x is 5" screen size compared to Note 4 at 5.5". Also 4X has the entry-level Snapdragon 435 cpu whereas the Note4 has the midrange SD 625 CPU. I personally prefer the Note4. But those specs you check on any website.

I have a puzzling issue with my Redmi Note 4. Went up to JHB last week, and while using GPS, it went into a mad partial boot loop after a while. Restarting was also quite random, as sometimes it would stay up and running for minutes, or hours, and sometimes it would restart just after it finished booting up.

I thought it might be heat, but it didn't feel hot at all. I tried turning off as much as I could when I got it started (like turning off GPS, wireless, mobile data). That didn't help.

It did it's restart thing for days, and I eventually got to a point where I just left it off until I needed it. When it was having its wobbly, I also discovered that the camera doesn't work.

Anyway, I get back to Durban on Monday night, and it starts working normally again. No restarts.

I do have Lineage OS 15.1 installed on it. I had a relatively early stable version installed. Last night I updated it to a recent version.

Has anyone had any issues like this before? I'm not sure if I should go through the effort of putting the stock ROM back on, and getting it repaired. The first thing I blame is the ROM, but I couldn't find anyone mentioning the same issue on XDA. The last time I had a boot loop issue with using GPS is with my old Desire, which only stopped it's boot loop after they replaced the motherboard.

Hi, strange indeed. The only reboot issue I've had with mine was related to roaming on MTN, I have 2 Telkom sims, but only sim in slot 2 with LTE enable. Rebooting starts as soon as network starts to roam. To fix, force 3G only for that sim. Or change data sim to slot 1 to use 4G on Telkom and 3G on MTN without having to change settings al the time and without fear of the reboot. Does reboot every once in awhile, but sometimes after weeks without a reboot. I have not tested to use sim 2 for data on the new MIUI 10 beta, currently nice rom, mostly notifications problems.

GPS problems I've had was GPS just searching with Mobile data switch on and connected to 3G network. Works fine with 4G, Edge, Wi-fi or disable mobile data and useing offline maps.

Thanks, that's interesting. It could have been a roaming issue, as I had bad signal where I was staying, and I guess there are not many towers on the way up to JHB. That would explain why I haven't had a reboot after getting back, as MTN signal is strong and pretty much LTE wherever I go here.

MIUI 10 update pushed through today. Really not liking the look....
