The government.. Why do you ask..

But then it also follows that he is completely constrained by that same government and therfore unable to perform. But he knew that before he started, so it was definitely all about the money..

If you want anything to start happening..

1. get rid of 30,000 hangers on (vote bait)
2. Get rid of unqualified professional?? Staff..
3. Employ capable qualified professionals artisans admin and labourers..
4. Remove government control and finance..

You mean you don't appreciate that I dared to question you? The point of a forum is debate and questioning each other's opinion amongst other things, it would be a very boring place if everyone just came here to make their opinion and leave.

That's very good, how was he able to do that? He has a willing government behind him who are supporting him instead of sabotaging him, the luxury the other CEOs never enjoyed, it shouldn't be that easy to just label them incompetent while not appreciating that De Ruyter works in a very enabling environment.

So why did the government sabotage the previous CEO's ?

I'm not getting into these games on the internet, the thread has escalated into "us vs them" pages ago and I find no reward in joining in.

Just thought I would add something not mentioned as yet and if a reasonable conversation gets started due to it I'd partake.

Firstly Hadebe was sick and he resigned because of health issues, unless we want to ignore that and go with some conspiracy theory.

Mabuza was no CEO material to begin with, his experience is at board level and he has no executive management experience.

Maritz, we all know what happened there, he ran away before his disciplinary hearing could be conducted.

Exactly...so no conspiracy theories...all "valid" reasons. So why is De Ruyter the exception? Because he is white...like you said.

He is not in anyway restrained by government.

He can act as the CEO until he gets fired and then the government will look bad for firing a good CEO.

It is perfectly within his rights and capabilities to do some restructuring.

E.g. Ramaphosa made the statement that NO ONE will be retrenched by ESKOM...this after De Ruyter started making waves about too many staff.

So what is De Ruyter then supposed to do...just quit?

What authority does Ramaphosa have over eskom he isn't even on the board of directors.


Here educate yourself.
Ramaphosa has no say.

He was supposed to ignore the politicians and do his job.
