So I'm once again jumping ship.

My needs are simple, I need 100% UNSHAPED data. I don't care whether it's capped or uncapped.

I've have used:

Afrihost - Capped and Business - Don't have to explain why I left.
Axxess - Capped - Horrible gaming latencies when I used them
Mweb - Cant remember which one. - Throttling
Web Africa - Before the cheap capped bundles - Was a bit of a up and down thing with regards to streaming
Openweb - Gold - Shaping
Plugg - Love Plugg, but uncapped is semi shaped and capped is super expensive.
Vox Fatpipe - I'm here now and it has become a mess over the last month or so with no real resolution in sight.

I've had a look at CW but I'm not a big fan of their shaping policies. Can anyone suggest an ISP I might have overlooked?

I use around 200-250GB's a month. Gaming and Streaming is obviously also important.

Thanks in advance

Can I ask which part of the shaping policies you don't like? Not trying to troll you or anything bud, just interested because since the shift to IS CrystalWeb has been performing very well. I haven't even felt any shaping TBH.

The download shaping throughout the day part, is it just p2p? or NNTP as well? Or steam downloads, big ones?

I don't want to sign up and get stuck in something for a month I'm not happy with.

Also the poll in their thread with almost 30% unsatisfied people is highish imo.

How do you find the shaping throughout the day?

What went wrong with your capped Afrihost account? I thought they are unshaped?

Yea... you and me both.

I had MASSIVE streaming issues with afrihost, my capped account wouldn't stream properly but my business account did. My business account latencies were horrible but capped latencies were great.

According to technical support that was impossible, real life experience suggested otherwise. :p

My WebAfrica Business capped has been solid, although I'm moving over to home capped next month.

What is your price range? You mention what your needs are (ONLY unshaped), yet complain about Plugg being too expensive.

Biggest Plugg capped account is 150GB, which costs R1944. So too small and its pretty damn expensive. I stated that I need around 200-250GB's a month.

I'm willing to pay up to a R1000 for my data.

Well, then your not going to find any ISP. Every Home DSL package in SA has shaping whether you like it or not, So it's down to choosing the best out of a bad bunch.

Pay up for proper unshaped. It is as simple as that.

No? Deal with some form of shaping. There are no alternatives.

Who do you recommend then? Everyone says pay but no one says who?

I signed up with AH capped account early March, stayed on them for a week and decided to cancel; I had a better experience at OW to be honest. Since switching to CW uncapped, I've got nothing but love for them after 11 days, but each to their own.

Anyway, a few topics where a similar debate has come up before in the last month: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/688542-Best-ISP-for-uncapped-Streaming-Gaming

WebAfrica's business capped products. I don't think I've read anything bad about those accounts. They cost...but they perform as advertised as far as I can tell.

But even they are and will be managed if needed to preserve their network experience during the day.

Otherwise cough up 4k plus for a 2mb true 1:1 unshaped account.

Crystalweb would be your best bet I guess. I switched over on Friday, and it's streaming heaven. Afrihost Business was awesome everywhere except streaming. My streaming was totally borked, they gave me 2 test accounts to test with and I had no issues whatsoever with streaming with those - used the one 2 days and the other almost a week.

This was once in December, then it was OK but not perfect until March. Then I couldn't watch anything again, and thus tested with a test account again, all seemingly perfect. Til today they have no idea why. I even bought a separate 10GB capped account from them, yet the buffering remained.

Anyway, I digress. No ISP will give you all that you want. They all have weakpoints. But Crystalweb seems to be working a treat with streaming, and I'm fine with downloading overnight.

I've decided to give the WebAfrica Business Capped 600 a go.

Its got 120GB day time usage which is enough and the rest after midnight. And its cheaper than what I'm now paying for 250GB's on VOX.

If that doesn't work out I'll try CW.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I signed up for a CW 4mb uncapped account today...and will report back as soon as our area's Telkom cable is repaired/replaced...

I don't think you'll be disappointed. My business capped maxes out my 40Mbit line any time of the day.
