YouTube testing ad-blockers blocking

Now I have to pay for my addiction?! This is worse than cigarettes! What am I going to do? Read a book? Watch Netflix? Oh wait…
R119 for the family plan, it's great

Most of my Youtube watching is on a TV so this wouldn't help, thanks for the tip though.
Android TV? If so, you can load SmartTubeNext which also has sponsored content blockers. I think someone else mentioned it in the thread as well

I understand people don't like ads but then pay for the service rather than defeating what ultimately funds the service.

If you keep the adds to a reasonable level, then I can tolerate them. But YouTube is pushing it recently. So I simply download, what I want, and watch without adds from my hard drive.

Creator loses out, youtube gets more ads to compensate and subscriptions go up as a result.

Ads were quite alright a few years back, before you got non-skippable 2 minute ads, videos filled with sponsored content, and sometimes 30-minute plus ads in some videos.

I've seen 6 hour adverts. I wish I was joking.

So be it, they push, too many adds, not my problem. Abuse me and my time, I do something about it. If some other channel sensitises me heavily, and your channel suffers as a result, again not my issue.

You in a particular bussiness, see to it that those in the same space behave themselves. Otherwise you are going to suffer alongside them.

For all its faults, I like YouTube. I think it provides value in my life, and I'm willing to pay for that.
There are two payment methods: watch ads, or subscribe to premium.
I don't like ads, and I don't really want my kids to watch them either, so I pay the R72 per month.

YouTube Music sucks, Spotify's algorithm is much better, but I won't pay for another music streaming service just out of principle.
I'd pay 72 bucks if a % of the 72 bucks goes to the people that provide content to the service, otherwise. No thanks

A bit of fantasy-land thinking that content creators are going to change the behaviour of others no?

End of the day, it is not my problem. You want to sell something, it must have value, you deprecate that value, I will react in kind.

Why would I have?
Because in the same way you seem to think the onus is on content-creators to get others to reduce ads, maybe the onus is also on paying subscribers to get others to pay? It's a bit petty this attitude of wanting everything for free and not willing to pay unless the system is perfect. We enjoy so much content on youtube, but then don't want to contribute an ounce to keep that content rolling in? Weird attitude to have.
