Zest T1

The fact that he moved from Zest - to me it shows Afrihost not being very close to Zest ant more.

I disagree. The two phones aren't even aimed at the same target market. I don't think you can make that assumption/conclusion unless he specifically said he moved over to iPhone because poo-poo.

Edit: what konfab said (beat me to it).

Will you ever see the CEO of Microsoft using an iPhone? will you see the CEO of MTN with a cell c sim in his phone? No! Regardless of whether their product is targeted for their use or not. They will always stay loyal and show (publicly) that if their product is good enough for them, it is good enough for the public.
He used the Zest in the past. What is wrong with it that he changed? I know, its SH*T!!!

I'm not saying that's not the case. It very well might be. What I'm saying is you're assuming for one, and secondly, you are comparing an entry level device with a top of the range iPhone. By your reasoning Samsung's newest Galaxy S flagship is also k*k because he's not using that either- another device, I'll remind you, that is not comparable to the entry level T1.

No one is saying the Zest is perfect, very much the opposite. Heck, I've one of those complaining the most and the loudest, but still, you need to keep it logical and fair. Also, the ceo of Afrihost is not the ceo of Zest, now is he, so what was your point again?

The ceo of Afrihost using a Zest phone was a marketing ploy to get people to buy the phone, nothing more it seems.

i bought the zest. i had a htc one x at the time. it was not even close to that.

it is nowhere near a high-end phone

edit - and i don't think it was even positioned as such. from how the person who uses it talks, it seems a great phone where you are not looking for high end.

Woke up this morning to find my phone seemingly stuck on the white 'Zest T1' bootup screen. :(

Zayne B (10:49:58) : with regards to the zest phone, unfortunately we do not deal with them any longer, although you are able to bring your phone in and let us have a look at it although if we are not able to resolve it, you would need to take it in to zest themselves

At my own cost I might add. The Afrihost-Zest relationship broke down quite a few months ago :(

Paid R2000 for an unstable phone with the knowledge that I'd had Afrihost backing me all the way. Now that support has ceased to exist. Material change in the terms of the deal I signed up for :/

Are afrihost still selling this on their website?

A while back, an AfriPerson mentioned on this thread that the afrihost mobile thread is their official thread zest support.

Edit: rereading your zayne quote..
That's terrible of them to just drop customers like that.

Nope, as you can see above.

Zayne B: unfortunately we will not be stocking anymore of the zest phones

The 'exchange' function linked to the Zest inside the CilentZone page merely sends out a courier to collect and deliver the phone to Afrihost. Afrihost will then _try_ to fix the phone (probably just reload the firmware) and return the phone to you. Any returns to Zest is for your own account.

Now my replacement phone is playing up.
When I put in headphones it only plays 1 second of the song and stops. I also tried to use the phone as a modem plugging into my laptop and could not get it to work.
I will try and send it back to Afrihost but am disappointed in Afrihost's responses and choice of equipment.

My recommendation is stay away!

Mine would also be to stay away. I'm loathe to move back to a contract but I'm considering it just to break away from the phone.

I honestly have no issue with it other than it swtiches off periodically even at close to full power. It's not reliable at all.

Yip, try and get your money back, like I did, and buy the moto G for a little extra......
