Btw, if you dont know how to repartition your device yourself, rooting would probably be a bad idea as that will likely void the warranty.
 
Has anyone able to access the root of this phone using the Titanium Backup app? I get an error stating the app could not acquire privileges. I'm trying to move root apps to SD.
 
Why should I send a device, the good people at AH and/or Zest have more pocket money than me
 
I'd like to sell the ZT1 in October / November and replace with their accelerate model. Would like a dual sim phone with a better screen and cam and more real-estate. But then, I'd like the ability to get root easily and add an ad blocker etc

I see you have rooted. What process are you using?
 
I always found rooting to be harmless if you generally read the instructions on how to do so for a specific handset. As a huge Android fan Ive owned too many handsets to even count now and rooted and flashed customs ROMs by the hundreds. For the the first time ever i managed to brick my Note3 by just doing a simple rom flash.

Forced to use my Zest now as my main device, but even with the latest OTA the handsets "issues" can be frustrating at times. Found that swiftkey actually makes typing worse so best to just stick to the stock keyboard.

Point that i was trying to make is that I think we must all be very cautious on attempting root on the Zest unless we are certain it works without the risk of bricking the device. For now i'll rather wait for someone to come up with a proper guide.
 
So it seems @Zestmobile does not want to respond to this post anymore. 4 days of silence. And here we explained we just wanted to make the device and it's company better.
 
From their Facebook page: Hi there. Please go to settings, storage and select default install location to Phone Storage. Please use file manager and check that any unnecessary content on internal memory is copied to Phone Storage and then deleted off Phone Storage. Please inbox us and we will gladly assist further.

Can anyone browse internal memory using the default file manager?
 
Exactly. They don't have a solution it seems. Checked with ES File Explorer and there is nothing that can be safely moved or deleted.

Did you try reflashing stock with Odin? What do you define as bricked?

I had my Note 2 in a boot loop when I flashed a ROM, flashed stock and it worked... Second time I flashed the same ROM, all was good.

When returning to stock a few months later, I lost my IMEI. Fixed that by flashing another radio with Odin :)

They messaged on Facebook this morning that they're going to release instructions on how to re-partition the device to increase the internal storage. Apparently it's not possible to do the repartition via an OTA update (I guess it's impossible to know just how much of which partition has been used)

Looking forward to when that gets sorted.

Looks like with the OTA they are doing binary patches to existing files, which is why you cant repartition because you loose everything in the partition, unless you can grow it :)
 
With regards to rooting, I stumbled upon it while playing with java / adb. If theres anyone who wants to take it further, please give me a shout, perhaps I can assist with getting SU / SUDO on the phone :)

Just remember it comes with no warranty, and you have to know your way around on the phone / shells
