Zest T1

... (apps can't access SD card, YouTube issues (the freezing video thing), Google Maps crashes...)
Apps not accessing the SD card is not a Zest issue, but an Android KitKat security "feature" implemented by Google.
Google Maps crashing was supposed to be sorted out by the partitioning update to the firmware.

I still have an issue with most chargers (other than the Zest one) continuously linking and disconnecting while plugged in, both in the car or connected to my XP PC. Is it a voltage or ampage issue perhaps? I know the Zest charger has a 5V 1A output.

I have been having lots of issues with this Phone
Today they will be collecting the 2nd one, so hopefully 3rd time lucky, when I eventually get it!!

The apps should be able to get a list of app-specific directories with getExternalFilesDirs and getExternalCacheDirs, but that only returns a single path each... (I know that they are not supposed to be able to write anywhere on "secondary storage" outside their own folder, but their own folder should remain an option...)

So this phone is turning out to be a bit of a pain, but for the price I don't really care anymore.

It seems Im not able to update OR install any more apps, which is irritating to say the least. Even though I have an 8GB microSD in AND over 100MB free space internally it still tells me I dont have space to install in the most basic apps. I've tried clearing cache and whatnot and even uninstalled a bunch of apps i added in the start, but now it's just being silly.

Have you repartitioned the device? Sounds to me like you still have the original storage partitions. Go to the Zest website and download the repartition software. Sorted out basically all the issues my phone had.

Cool I think I'll do just that. Does the repartition work the same as a HDD where it wipes everything?

EDIT: Damn! 1GB download...ouch. Guess I won't be doing it over 3g.

Yes, the whole phone gets wiped.
It's a large download, but well worth the effort.

Is the process pretty straight forward?

I've jailbroken iphones and rooted others etc. and soldered together and programmed microcontrollers so I have no issue playing around...but I'm in a new country that speaks buggerall english and this phone is my ONLY way to get around. So if it breaks, i kinda need to unfudge it myself without internet access.

Downloaded the partition fix. The driver step fails.

Even the instructions of connecting the phone without the battery without USB is like WTF the phone won't stay on without battery?

Then see the software works on XP, Win 7.

What a joke this company is.

I did mine on Win 8.1 a while ago using the compatability mode on Win 8..trying to remember how I did it:erm:

Device without battery can't connect and show device in device manager

I get these error when running “SP_MDT_src_v3.1345.00,00-TestVersion-6"

Created a user Administrator and those folders and moved everything into it. I still get the 3.1345 is no a valid floating point value when trying to save.
On their FB, they mention that you need to change your regional settings on your PC to English US to solve that..
