Zuma promises lower telecoms costs

Let's be 100% honest.

The Government only controls 1 single part of the price = TAX.
The companies involved can charge as much as they like, so in essence ZUMA committed to cutting the TAX part. Nothing more he can do ;)

Can't goverment invoke change through ICASA, like fast-tracking LLU etc?

It's still privately owned companies. If the hand of the judge is to heavy they just leave and reap fruits somewhere else.

Since telecoms in SA is privately owned they can't do shyt ;) They can make sure that customers are not being exploited but that is how far it goes.

Do you think Government will bite the hands that feed them BILLIONS in Tax ?

And by doing that cut off their own cash cow revenues, (private Investment), NO chance of that happening any time soon

How's that honest? :confused::confused:
Government controls tax
Controls regulations through ICASA
Controls capital expenditure through INFRACO, Telkom and others
And then reports ther news the way they choose through the SABC

He still can't do shyt ;) See my post above.

I guess you don't understand the meaning of Honest ?

I'm not saying they will or want to, just that they can if they wanted to :)

Translation: We rely on radio/TV to relay our propaganda and "nation building" rhetoric, and will invest appropriately to ensure it is not usurped by more objective media amongst our support base.

Blah blah blah Mbeki said the same thing twenty twelve times. Who cares.

Like Vodacom3g said the previous President said the same thing.

Its been a month, the mark on my thumb nail seems to be more vocal than the current MoC :p

create jobs
reduce crime
lower costs

Julius was right... God must be on Zuma's side!!!

politicians say what you want to hear. if you were to ask him what the "exciting developments" are, you will have a weeny problem...

believe it when i see it

wow...seacom arrives and then he makes this statement...wonder which idiots will believe his crap

zuma's idea of telecoms involves;a couple zinc plates from a relocated squator camp slapped together to form a satelite dish complete with a showerhead atached to an asagai (will also prove handy when lady justice comes knocking) to be used as the receiver .
