Is Ubuntu innovative or reckless?

the linux community makes me laugh so much- when gnome 3 was first unveiled you couldn't find a single positive response, everybody winged and complained that it was cumbersome, overdone, required more clicks etc. In steps canonical, with unity and everyone screams that they want gnome. I think opensource folks are just resistant to change, but once they try it they eventually come around.

While we are on unity, that may be the default, but I have no doubts that they will also release a version like kubuntu, xubuntu etc that still uses gnome, so anyone who is throwing their toys should not do so quite yet.

as for Wayland, it is the future, but canonical wont implement it until it is ready to be implemented.

Well if you want business as usual, there are a million and one other generic distributions out there. Someone has to make the innovations.

They had to do it. Well done. Ubuntu just felt a bit old with Gnome despite the fact that it has some nice features.

Linux just isn't good enough for me at the moment. I remember spending 30 minutes trying to get my laptop, when closed, to display on an external monitor. I don't have time for that - it should just work... I don't care about editing some X config file...

which version was that?

Innovative - it shows Mark's entrepreneurial spirit without which he would not have accomplished as much as he did.
So let's rather support this bold step and encourage even better outcomes for all.

lol ubuntu fan boys , wait till they implement wayland and you dont get to use your awesome proprietary nvidia linux drivers :P , because nvidia doesnt care much for wayland , anyone that has used the nouveau ones know they pretty terrible :P

Wayland ftw tho , cant wait

Great thanks... now can someone please work on a port of Photoshop for Linux distros... pretty please! :)

Tried using Ubantu, but after using Windows my entire life I found it way to complex and dull...Maybe these new changes will help...:o
