MTN launches flat-rated smartphone data bundles

Nice. I wonder what speeds we'll be throttled too. Hopefully nothing less than 384.

Its a def step in the right direction and I will actually consider porting to MTN... once they're more open about what happens after the 75Megs is used up.

This is no different from their standard data bundles (at least for the 'Pro' bundles).... R49 for 75MB. Also, how can 75MB/month be enough for anyone to get full use out of their smartphone? I've used >100MB in the past 21 days JUST on Facebook, Twitter, email, and Whatsapp. And this was a low-usage month, with me being at home most of the time.

I'd be ok with being throttled to 384 after the initial 75mb.

Exactly.

This is confusing. If I get the Opera Mini one. Won't I be able to access Facebook on the 75MB barrier? Why so many confusing packages?

100Meg on Vodacom will cost you R49.00. The sweet centre will be in the details. Do you get throttled down to a lower speed but dont pay extra for usage over and above the 75 meg and if so to what speed? Does this include data usage for WhatsApp and Android Market?

75MB ? is this a joke? what is so good about it?

It all depends on what it's throttled to after the 75MB limit. If it's reasonable (>384 Kbps) then this could be the beginning of the end of BB in SA.

75MB? Not too bad if your "smartphone" is still a Nokia 3310. Anything more modern than that might be a bit hard, though.

Ja, this is seriously going to depend on how the fair use policy is applied. 75mb is Bugger all
