Yup can confirm that its IS's network. Gconnect IS is basically dead too.

Evening guys

Sorry about this, had to run into the office.

waServerStatus said:
Date: 28 February 2013
Time: 19:40
Attending: Upstream Network Engineers
Impact: Intermittent connectivity issues

IS picked up a fault between Cape Town and JHB causing intermittent problems across all ADSL services. IS Engineers currently working on the problem.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Additional feedback to follow

Will provide feedback as soon as I get it.

You should start to see an improvement as the links seem to be stabilising.

Thanks Jeff.

DL is running at pretty much full 10 meg and streaming radio good, and browsing fine. So let's hope we can get this during office hours too

The link has been restored and traffic is stabilising.
We'll continue to monitor the situation closely with IS.

Jeff I have been experiencing and many others the same across other ISP, Afrihost, OW, Mweb that the adsl in cape town region is really bad.

I have never had a issue like this before and it looks like exchange, but honestly If so many people experience this type of impact then there must be a fault of some sorts on the Telkom Infrastructure in Cape Town Area.

Heya!

If I compare to the tracert's you posted on our forums yesterday, the results above do point to an exchange related issue :(
184ms off the bat is never good to see :(

If you line is with us we'll be able to log a fault for you and get it pushed to be sorted sooner rather than later.
Telkom are also running work tomorrow morning at 5am, hopefully that will improve things too http://forums.webafrica.co.za/showthread.php/12489-ADSL-Western-Cape-Maintenance

OK I will hold of till tomorrow then, this is definitely not an exchange congestion, it is more like the a overload of the transit routes between DSLAM's too ESR - too ISP IPC's

I'm reading through a few posts and have picked up that you guys are battling with downloads during the day/ office hours.
Can you please let me know what you're trying to download? Whether it be from torrents, NNTP, HTTP etc etc?

Please also include your ADSL account type within the responses so our Engineers can get a better idea on where to start looking.

Jeff
Perhaps you need to look at this ?

As you can see your akamai connection is on a different IP range and is a bit slow ? :)

This is interesting.
Looks like we're routing internationally whereas Telkom look like they're routing to local caching services.

Can you drop me a PM with your account details and ADSL account type so I can pass this onto our Engineers.

Well so much for the grand IS backbone...the way webafrica was selling it you swear the net would be perfect after the move..

The first day was perfect (Burst to 530kb/s) but now I'm getting shapped on http to half connection speed ! Multi-session FTP maxes out at 170kb/s.

NOT HAPPY

We experienced issues between CPT and JHB earlier tonight.
Can you re-run these tests tomorrow morning/ night and see if the issues still persist? Could you also include a tracert here so we can further identify the issues.

Everything seems good now thanks Jeff

Great stuff, thanks for letting me know :)

Yeah, also looks back to normal now...getting full speed again :D
