Hi Everyone

I am experiencing terrible congestion on the Durbanville Exchange for the last few days. How has your ADSL connection been lately?

Please post your tracert here; as I am going to take this further with Telkom. More of us that have issues better chance it will be fixed.

+1 for being erratic.

Had issues last night again. Didn't save results, will do next time.

My internet went to hell after about 10PM last night; getting ridiculous now

Looking better this evening... but it's still early...

I live in the Graanendal area in Dubanville, the internet has been RUBBISH for A FEW MONTHS now. I started noticing latency problems in November last year, but not this bad, it's now reached new hights. I've been on the phone for ages but I just get the same response, they will send an engineer... lol.

My internet is unbareable in the evenings and weekends, a lot of refreshes got me here. During the day its awesome.

Here's a piece of ping I've been running

The highest I spotted this evening was 2314ms. If I click now, it will be there when I wake up... I've got gazillions of ping and tracert results, speed test nonsense, tested with talkom guest accounts etc etc. Its not my ISP, its Telkom.

I have raised a dispute with their accounts department because I am not getting DSL Fastest as it says on my phone bill. I pay that Service Fee to be able to use that service, of which I only can maybe 50% of the time, kind of.. maybe. The money that DSL Fastest is supposed to be used for, is not being used to maintain and upgrade the equipment.

FANTASTIC! THANK YOU!

I also live near Graanendal Exchange, my problems have only really started in last two days. I will be following up with Telkom tomorrow on the reference number you gave and will report back here.

Just a note I see I am actually using DURBANVILLE (WDBV) Exchange

I will be logging a call about congestion for this exchange and following up on Graanendal exchange as promised earlier.

@Kripstoe are you still having issues?

No problem Lino,

I just hope they upgrade it properly, in other words, keep in mind that people like me dont use the net when its this bad, so they need to compensate for the traffic they are not seeing when upgrading.

kripstoe,

I don't know if its a SDC or an 'exchange', lets call it the Graanendal DSLAM or MSAN. The engineer I spoke to called it an exchange and when I spoke to the guys on the phone they knew what I was talking about. I also see that link does not include the VDSL that is active in the Durbanville area.

Personally, I think its a combination of the Telkom upgrades, 384 -> 1mb and the VDSL testers causing this... awesome. Fire the provisionings manager.

Please note I have contacted Telkom Headoffice via email (will fax shortly) regarding the issues in Durbanville. If any of you would like to see the email please PM me.

@Lino Issues seem to be in the evenings from 20h00 onwards. It varies. But it's consistently slower during those times. I'll check again tonight.

Thank you, I have informed them it starts from 7PM until 5am (that's what I have noticed roughly); I have also given a link to this thread as well.

I think a good example to give them is to use their own guest accounts on your line and show them the speed results from saix.net as indication that it's infrastructure related and not ISP related.

Excellent suggestion;
