Data should be coming down, not going up and I was about to go get my son a CellC contract yesterday (topup of course), will keep him on Vodacom .

if you have reception, look at telkom. good data deals

Thankfully - I'm no longer on their ****ty contracts

Giga packages 100GB currently R999 goes up to R1,499 (50%), 200GB currently R1,599 goes up to R1,999 (25%). Big percentage increases, but still a whole lot better than Telkom's largest equivalent package 100GB for R3,199.

ok, so genuine question. If your have [lets say] 10 month left on your contract, and they change the prices, is it not in effect a 'new' contract and should give you the option to not 'opt-in' to the new price? and then cancel?

Tell you what.

If I get that email, I'll email them back, telling them politely I'm not opting in for the new pricing.

Will see what happens. Of course, if the package I'm on is cheaper on the new pricing stucture, then I'll "opt-in"...

that would make sense right ? if you sign a 12 month lease, your owner cant decide in month six that its now 50% more expensive, but we stick to the old contract terms [i.e. just the price increase]

66c plan 67% increase!!!

It must be mistake or Cell C is going to lose customers.

It is in the SP's Ts and Cs. You agreed that they may increase prices when they feel like it...

It should be illegal to have clauses like that in contracts. :(

You can put any clause you want in a contract. If you sign the contract, you agree to the terms and conditions. If you don't read the contract, then that's your problem.

Exactly the point I want to make.

As an aside, I wonder if MTN will do the same thing and start jacking up the price of their 50Gb bundle contract, seeing that a couple of people signed up for that.
