Router Battery Backup

I have a Gizzu 30W Mini DC 32Wh UPS which holds power for 3hrs.

With the latest stage 6 loadshedding , the UPS is not fully starting up again after the batteries have died and the power is restored.

I'm very sure that the unit powered up on its own after the power was restored in the past.

I have to manually power it on again. Is this normal ?

How does one convert from mAh to wH ?

I got this yesterday and haven’t been home for a long bout of shedding to see how long it lasts. But although 24,000mah - it’s only 70-odd wh?

Yes. However it doesn't say it uses LFP batteries. Maybe it's the same as with Vizia. Their mini UPS devices claim they contain LG Chem Li Ion cells but they look the same as no name brands for half the price at Geewiz.

Builder's has the Titan product as does Bradlows:

Builders' offers a discount for pensioners on some days, so send your dad to buy it if you're out of that age bracket.
I was really tempted to open mine to see what options there was to add more capacity later. But the warranty label is just over the 1 screw :X3: so i left it for incase. After the warranty is over i will open it :).
To bad that they are out of stock and expensive elsewhere.
Saw the exact same product is also branded as Lava.
Yeah the stuff was flying and prices now is crazy. Also saw some other brands like the one you mentioned and the Evercharged one though that one comes without USB ports.

Further down the listing it states lifep04 so if the listing is accurate the builders one is lithium iron phosphate

Tha capacity and WH confirms it is infact lifep04

Wh = V (Either 3.7V (NMC) or 3.2V (LFP)) x Ah

1Ah = 1000mAh

24Ah x 3.7V = 88.8Wh
24Ah x 3.2V = 76.8Wh
And this is also your indicator for which cells it is

If 3.2v fits the mah/wh combo you have LFP/LIFEP04

and if 3 7v fits you have NMC cells

Edit you will never find it , but if ever you get 2.3,v it will last almost forever and charge super fast cause then it is LTO

Had an 8hr outage the other day and my Gizzu 60W/69Wh unit kept the router and ONT going throughout and still had 3 of the 4 battery capacity indicator lights lit at the end, so pretty happy. Not that I think those capacity indicators are particularly accurate on any of these sorts of small UPSs, but it suggests it still had a bit of life left after 8hrs, and that it won't be getting discharged deeply during 'regular' 4hr loadshedding sessions. The router wasn't used intensively during the 8hrs but someone was video streaming for about half the time.

Meanwhile my old 32Wh Ultralan UPS lives on as a power supply for a Lumeno 12v camping LED, haha. Still earning its keep.

Hi, I mean I didn't know if the LAVA branded unit was LiFePO. Builders has the TITAN branded unit which we know is LiFePO, I own this one myself. Yesterday, I checked the Takealot listing for the LAVA unit and missed the LiFePO mention, as pointed out by Park. Honest mistake.

I figured that the cases may be similar while the batteries may differ depending on what the reseller requests the Chinese supply these with. For example Vizia claim they put Li ion batteries branded by LG Chem into their mini UPSes while the same mini UPSes sell for much less on Geewiz under other brands but omit the LG Chem battery mention.

Now I see another OEM is reselling some of these and claims they are also LG Chem batteries:

Here is a Vizia unit:

Here is another manufacturer for less, but no mention of LG:

The other thing we also don't know if the LiFePO batteries are second life or "first life".

I had one of these fail on me several weeks ago. It was past the warranty though. It was supplying ONLY the ONT. The thing charges but won't switch on. Previously I was not able to switch it off, via that switch.
I reckon I could salvage the LG batteries inside. And it didn't have a deep discharge. It failed while the power was on.

Placing one of these or similar in line with your existing mini ups is a quick and easy/cheap way to extend your capacity.

NETOGY Mini 13200mAh:

I think I am going to get 2 of these for my CCTV system, run 4 cameras off each.

I also replaced all my cameras today. The new Hilooks (with a wider field of view) claim to use 330mah/4W (probably when IR LEDs are active).

Yea takealot not enough info to say

The vizia and the other one on geewiz is both nmc cells

The vizia if you do the math the wh calculation with a 3.7v cell the wh matches listing

ie geewiz one if you take the ah rating
ie (12000mah) thus 12Ax3.7=44.4wh which matches the listing

If it was a LFP/lifep04 with that mah rating then wh would have been 38.4wh

Yea takealot one might be but not enough info to say for certain ie if i calculate by dividing the mWh by voltage

ie 38.4wh /3.7vokts would equal 10.37 cells

While if i divide the 38.4 wh by 3.2v i get 12 cells

Which is more likely 10.4 cells or 12 round figure
Too me it is the round figure

but like i say with too little info we may come to the wrong conclusion

Leon, thanks for the tip about the 3.7volts for NMC and 3.2v for the FePO4.

My point was not that LG meant LiFePO but rather that different insides may be present in similar boxes. LG NMC would probably be superior to no-name-brand NMC.

how do you get the cells? Isn't the 10.4 and 12 the total Ah of the cells?

Yea probably ie they deliver capacity stamped on them

But cycle wise i would not think a too massive difference

Yea blond moment don't know what i was thinking
thanks for the correction

Edited out that blond moment

This one does have chinese cells inside i have repaired/upgraded a couple already :)

Have you opened it yet? Would be interesting to see how it looks inside :).

You mean they lied? They claimed on the TAL listing that they were LG cells. The box was Chinese though.
Their website also claims LG Chem cells.

Never mind, you were referring to the generic one :)

Builders will take your order for the Elecstor I did this Then you hear nothing Unless you call, they will not inform you that the supplier is out of stock It is a hastle to get your money back
