You're forgetting the most crucial part, let the black people sort themselves out. The next time I go on holiday, I'm not going to leave any food and water out for my black person nor leave the blackie flap on the door open. You sort yourself out, Sipho. You sort yourself out!

My black person is fortunate, I had him trained early...

I was in a staff meeting where we were told BEEE has changed again and will be harder to achieve....

Part of it, yes. Directive from the Board that I was forced to include into their targets.
Nowadays it's difficult for large corps to do business if BEE credentials are lacking. Clients want copies of the certificates for their own targets.

Ask people with a role size of "P" or above.
They would know about it first, if not they'll find out when they try to employ someone.
Nothing a role size P corporate governance does happens without his concent. ;)

That still does not stop them from hiring non black employees - that's why I say the story that the OP got from the recruiter is BS.

The title of the thread has "[without CEO approval]" behind it, so it implies Old Mutual CAN employee white people, just not without approval from the top.

I don't see why people think this is BS, i work for a corporate that has to deal with the government, they HAVE to do this. All management positions has to go through the CEO for approval, and it's commonly understood that he can reject an appointment if it's not a black person because of BEE requirements imposed by the state/customers. It might not be written on paper as such, but that's why they put "under no obligation to fill this position" at the end of the job advert.

The "on the ground" operational positions are a different story though, there it is about filling the position fast and getting the job done.

It's about filling a quota for BEE requirements. The targets are set by government for each level and business type.

They can hire white people, but the CEO has to approve it.

So given that the approval process is time consuming, especially for a company employing way over 10 000 people, it's not very likely that many approvals will happen.
And the ones that do will most likely be for very senior positions, or extremely scarce skills.
So pretty much like most corporates then. Lots of blacks at the bottom, lots of whites in management, with the indians and coloureds filling up the numbers...

Indians and coloureds will be next in line for the BEE treatment.

The management is here btw

Oh no! Look at the sad state of affairs of the white person in SA. Only 8/12 white people in the top management positions :(

Trust me if a company wants to hire (or promote) a white person, they will make a plan. There is no crisis. This is the kind of thing that gets your average News24 reader fuming, but any rational person knows that it's not as bad as it's being made out to be...

That white women no longer count to the target? And black male means African, not Coloured or Asian or Indian, etc,?
Black means coloured, Indian and blacks and that they needs to hire more "blacks" in senior positions

Yip, but I had some huge guns in my arsenal (several execs) and a niche skillset that simply cannot be bought on the current market - the skills just aren't available. I'm hardly the norm.

Oh you're a special little snowflake alright.
