Only one thing annoys me tho.. watching a vid via safari which is airplayed to tvOS/AppleTv4 still requires you to keep safari active as a top primary app.. <-- that annoys me

I just agree the lack of "handover" for video to a central system in some cases pisses me off too.

More so on this topic now that I'm stuck in a hotel for four weeks is why we don't have a universal Wifi Direct based casting system built into all TV's.

It's so silly to me that I can't send something directly to this TV in my hotel room without connecting some box to it. And then a box that is platform locked at that.

Wrt IOS I've been using apple ecosystem for 5 going 6yrs so 4S, 5S, 6S and soon 7S.

This year was the 1st year I've had a major issue when they rolled out the 2nd or 3rd last patch 10.2.1 which had my phone crash. Now as bad as it was.. eventually I did what I didn't want to in the end.. wiped and restored from iCloud which fixed everything after I determine was config & virt mem mess up due to the patch not correctly forcing storage req for install. Anyway.. after a full back up(i use it a lot so incremental) & restore phone was working again.. good as new. Now how many people do that with Android!

Yes it can, in fact I have 2 Xiaomi phones that I swap and flash all the time just yesterday my Mi5 became the toy vs Note 4X the primary phone. In fact I forgot its suppose to be a feature. Just swap sim, Log Into Google & Mi Account and leave the phone to sync itself.

What do you want the icons to do? Transform into stars or other gimmicks? iOS UI hasn't changed much, for reasons.

It takes a while to get used to 3D Touch. Once you do you'll notice it's a great feature. Clearly you haven't spent much time on it.

iPhone plus devices outperform any other device when it comes to battery life. Sorry, it's a fact. Don't care if you have widgets or a Super Amoled screen. If the device can't hold a days charge with all its widgets and bling bling, then what's the point?

About time other phone makers jump onto the premium build quality.

+2 for 3D Touch - one of the things I've really enjoyed having since I switched. Improves everyday usage immensely.

I didn't say Android can't do it, I was simply explaining Apple's approach to him as he doesn't seem to have the hands on exposure to it.

Though one way iOS notifications are better is the lock screen implementation, I prefer the fact that the email header + a line appear on the lock screen or a couple of lines of an SMS, on Android I just get the envelope or GoSMS icon, while driving with iOS I can decide whether I need to pull over and handle the SMS or email or ignore it until I get to my destination.

I'd like to be able to have similar when using Android.

You can get a glimpse on Android as well on the lockscreen, and can swipe on the lockscreen if you want to quickly reply or dismiss the message

Don't worry I'm fully aware of iPhone, and the way it handles certain things. What I still don't like about it, and why I won't go back anytime soon, is still iTunes. I just hate that junk.

And to not accept it as a marvel of engineering to automate this process and complete it on millions of devices simply shows a ridiculous bias.

Come on, be a little objective and give credit where it's due.

It's a massive ballache to even do manually and even the most hardcore of system admins would avoid it if at all possible and not volunteer it unless absolutely warranted, so to automate it with such accuracy truly is astounding.

If Android had done it I would give them the very same credit as it would be well deserved and I can be objective like that.

This phone I'm on how has never touched iTunes in 2+ years since it came out of it's box.

(Ignoring that it sometimes auto starts when you plug it into a PC of course).

ITunes in general was a pain for me. I need to have it installed, as it's part of my work, or needed to do some things for users. However, I had to get a laptop, and just load iTunes, as the software kept crashing my pc. It was similar to when we had blend or the Blackberry desktop software, they were just so fussy. Glad our users hardly make use of Blackberry anymore.

But it's amazing how, one still has to make use of Safari, even if there is support for 3rd party browsers. Good thing is that Apple allowed for 3rd party keyboards as well.

Not really. its like moving VM's from one file system to another. People copy VM's from one PC to another PC daily. The moment human element was removed it was guaranteed to work.

Problem is, this removal of the human element is exactly the reason why I moved to Android (Yes my 1st phones where iPhones). I like the fact that Android applications can interact with one another, I love the raw access to my file system So I can copy stuff where and when I want. I love MicroSD and the fact that I can plug my phone's MicroSD into my tablet or PC and continue withe data (LTE/3G Data is not cheap).

Edit: I recon its one of the reasons why I love MiUI so much. It bring loads of things I loved about iOS to Android. Sure its not everybody's cup of tea but I love the flavour.

That implementation stuffed me around a tad, its like playing roulette, never knowing what keyboard you going to get in people's apps. even worse when you uninstall one after some use.(Don't know if its still so)

It's why I really can't do Apple anymore. Just sharing things amongst other apps is a pain, either it's not easy to, or you just can't do it. With Droid, you can share things with any other app.

It's nothing like moving VM's from one system to another.

Firstly because the data isn't all conveniently in a single container.

Secondly because it's not one system to another...It's a single system with a single storage volume.

That volume being dynamically enlarged on one side and dynamically reduced on the other while data is transferred in the middle.

Nobody does that. Not on a single system on a single storage device.

It's pretty easy if you have two systems or at least two different storages, but they simply isn't the case here.

What do you mean you have to use Safari? I use Chrome exclusively since moving away from Mac as I can't sync my bookmarks and keychain to Windows which I can do in Chrome.

I must be the only guy on this forum that likes iTunes. I don't need or use it for syncing I devices any more but it's still the best way for me to manage my 1tb big music library. I run iTunes on 2 htpc's connected to home theaters and the entire library is available wireless via home sharing too.

Unless things have changed, as an example, if I click on a link, it doesn't allow or didn't allow me to use Chrome by default to open that link. Unless I did something wrong, it opened up in Safari with no option in allowing me to choose which browser I want to use.

Aah like that.

It's been left open to developers to make API calls to the browser preferred so most give you the option to choose which browser should handle links.

Google products I think default to Chrome if it's installed.

Tapatalk and Twitter and such give you the option in settings.

And others just pop-up a menu and ask you which one.

It could have been easier to just have a system wide setting, but that's probably done on purpose as they won't allow Keychain access to any non-native app and I think the ones that authenticate externally like Amazon Prime and the like use the browser in the background.

Personally I don't understand why they don't just make a keychain container per app and allow Apps only access to their own container instead of the system wide one.

On OSX you can do that manually so not sure why iOS doesn't just automate the same thing.

They should really just employ me, I could help them with so many things.

Yeah no Windows Media Player was not great eitherand Groove Music is much better but iTunes just install a bunch of junk that slows down your PC and can probably be harmful to your security aswell. Bonjour and Apple software update etc.
