Hey,

I've been browsing the forums for a solid answer to whether Constania Kloof (JHB) has been upgraded. And i'm yet to find one.

My router is reading that the line mode is set at ADSL2+. My line stat's don't read to badly either:

Noise margin: 22.2 dB (upstream)
Line attenuation: 26.3 dB (upstream)

How does one go about getting my line speed upped. Any clues?

Thanks in advance

Well according to that app, my exchange supports 10MB. And my line is syncing on ADSL2+ so... I'm quite confused :/

Alright, the next step would be for you to simply call Telkom or better go to the Telkom DirectStore and tell them you want your line speed upgraded to 10mbps.

sounds like you're technically only 1 step away from 10Mbps ;) try give them a call @ 0800 375 375 and they should theoretically be able to change your profile if you can convince them... but they normally say that you have to wait for telkom to manually update your exchange profile for all customers

Well after being bounced around like a tennis ball for a good hour i managed to get them to bump it up to 8MB and it's pretty stable. The line noise has dropped to 13 which is abit of a concern but other then that it seems quite good.

Thanks so much for all the help :)

great! is it still on ADSL2+, or has it gone back to G.DMG/ADSL1? Why I ask is because it seems you've been placed back onto GDMT by how much your noise margin has dropped, and the fact that you're limited to 8Mbps with what are otherwise stats which should allow you up to at least 12Mbps... if you had 22dB noise margin and 26dB attenuation on 4Mbps with ADSL2+, then you should be able to reach 10Mbps with a noise margin somewhere around 10dB which is fine, as long as it's stable.
I've personally got 37dB attenuation, 18dB noise margin @ 4mbps and 8dB noise margin @ 10Mbps, so I'm syncing at 8mbps with about 10-12dB noise margin which drops to around 8 at night but the line doesn't drop so it's all good =)

Statistics -- ADSL

Mode: ADSL2+
Line Coding: Trellis On
Status: No Defect
Link Power State: L0

does that not mean Telkom are using ADSL2+

?

give me the following stats
Line connection speed in Kilo bits per second as reported by the ADSL or ADSL2+ modem. (May be called data rate, connection speed or downstream rate.)
The noise and attenuation you already posted

18645Kbps - If your service provider uses ADSL2+ the maximum line speed
16500Kbps - ADSL2+ the maximum IP throughput (result from a speedtest
