Why? Will it not be in the best interest of SA rugby if the Guppies can go through as well? Brumbies just need to them a favour in beating the 'Tahs and if the Guppies loose, to loose by less than seven points or get a bonus point try, and the same for the Bulls.

Cannot believe that this game potentially eliminates a South African team. Worst! Sharks have it all to do. But they have the ability to do it ;)

sigh, thats always what i hear down here at newlands even if the game's weeks in advance. If we win the cheetahs, I'll be in checkers/shoprite/wherever first thing in the morning, screw work!

If the brumbies win, both bulls and sharks go thru no matter what happens in the loftus game. The tahs win, winner of loftus goes thru, the loser is relegated to watching on tv

Anyway, its looking more and more likely that the Stormers are going to exact revenge on the Bulls in the final at Newlands. You heard it here first:p

I was thinking something very similar except the my result is the reverse. Let's hold thumbs for that final.
 
Dream ending to the weekend:

(1) Blues over highlanders, means Blues finish 3
(2) Chiefs over Reds, denying them a bonus pt
(3) Hurricanes over Crusaders, denying them a bonus pt
(4) Brumbies over tahs
(5) Bulls BP win over sharks
(6) WP BP win over cheetahs (sorry VS)

The resulting log:
1. Stormers
2. Reds
3. Blues
4. Bulls
5. Crusaders
6. Sharks

This means a Round 19 eliminator of Bulls hosting Crusaders, Blues hosting Sharks. Spoils to Bulls and Sharks then Sharks can finish off the Reds hopes and return to face either Bulls or Stormers in an All-SA final. There may be other permutations where this can happen, of course...
 
I see Marius Plonker is reffing the Cheetahs v Stormers game. Let's hope that he has a better game than Sharks v Cheetahs...
 
This will most probably be the table after this weekend's games:

1. Reds
2. Stormers
3. Crusaders
4. Blues
5. Bulls
6. Waratahs (hope not)

...implying all top 5 teams +waratahs win their respective matches which will be the most probable outcome.

Semifinals:
Stormers vs Crusaders (even if sharks replace waratahs)
Reds vs Bulls

I'm confident the Bulls will beat the Reds. Not that Reds don't deserve to be where they are this season, but because the Bulls are seriously looking like they're going all the way to the final. They just have that mental strength. Even tho the Bulls aren't as good on the road as say the Stormers this year they can down the Reds.

As for my beloved stormers, if they
-don't suffer from stage fright (leading to a succession of brain farts), EDIT: just thinking now, supporting the stormers is the same as supporting the proteas!
-keep the defensive workrate as is (altho i bet up n unders to habana/behind defensive line will be the crusaders' main weapon)
-keep januarie on the bench (if he has to come on, bring him on at 75+. I still keep playing that setpiece try ending with fourie scoring last year against crusaders occasionally. Maybe just maybe....)
-bring JdJ and/or Sadie on not too late in the game (50-60mins).
-flyhalf woes are sorted out

then I'm confident we can beat the crusaders. sounds like alot, but they just need to do what they're paid to do.

I disagree.

Rather, I do agree with your probable outcomes - I know mine are a dream. But I think that the Stormers can definitely take that Semi. Crusaders simply do not travel to semis very well. Especially of late. I have all confidence the Stormers will send 'em home in tears.

If stormers play to their ability there shouldn't be a problem. but too many times this season i've seen they have a "deer in the headlights" look about them against the bigger teams. Sure, coming from behind to beat the blues shows character, plus the awesome away form this year, but
1. they still don't put teams away when they're on top as they should.
2. give too much respect to powerhouse opposition.
Against the crusaders thats asking for trouble, ala the newlands game earlier in the year

in this outcome, I think sharks will then play stormers in semis and bulls vs reds rather, then bulls-stormers final. I prayed for the tahs and highlanders to stutter a couple of weeks ago opening the door for 3 SA teams in playoffs. looks like its time to pray again;)

Yeah, Bulls have a history of leaving the reds with a blood nose! I like it a lot.
 
Bloody hell. I'm getting ready to do the Live Updates of the BabyBoks game and New Zealand just farked up Wales 92-0.
 
A good win by the Baby Boks in the end 42-26, but they not going to win this years competition that's for sure. In fact I reckon once again they good for 3rd place...

Yeah. If I have to be honest I reckon we will make the final this year but I cannot see us winning against that New Zealand team. Not when we make so many mistakes and our discipline is also rather average.

Having said that. We have some superstars lurking in that team. Johan Goosen, Nizaam Carr, Eben Etzebeth, Francois Venter to name a few.
Also a name to rememeber is that Irish winger Andrew Conway. Twitter was buzzing about that guy last night. Seriously good player.

During last week's clash against the Bulls, the crowd was heard to boo at least twice: once, when the Bulls entered the field and another when Steyn lined up a penalty. Now I am familiar with this Newlands behaviour but I wonder if it happens as bad elsewhere. On visits to Kings Park (lovely stadium - my favourite outside of Loftus) I have never heard this conduct.

Do the Stormers Fans do it for all teams or is it reserved for the ones that beat them? Do other fans do this?

Nope.
For some reason there is a large contingent who actually cheer for any New Zealand team that plays there.
Must have been about 4000 twits cheering for the Crusaders at the last game.
At last year's game when we beat them, not many people cheered the Crusaders.

The naartjie throwing seems to have stopped.
