2011 Super Rugby (Super 15) thread

Too bad the Sharks played their best game last week.

Wonder if the Bulls would have done better ?

Probably not, they don't travel well.

Crusaders are awesome, I fear for the Stormers !

They may have. The Bulls were constantly improving towards the end of the season. They also have more experience in this stages of the competition.
But they lost last week, so no use for what if's.

The Stormers should be able to beat the Crusaders. Stormers are playing well and they are playing at home.
And then the Blues have to beat the Reds so the final can go to Cape Town.

Super 15 Semi-finals

Reds v Blues - Brisbane
Stormers v Crusaders - Cape Town

I think the blues can take the reds but that would take cooper to not have a blinder and the blues forwards to outplay the reds pack... I also think the stormers have it in their favour if they can keep it together and not make so many unforced errors as in the game against the bulls. I do also think the changes in the side will help a lot. Good luck stormers.

Thank you very, very much :)

I don't like the look of it. It looks plasticy...

According to Greg Peters it is pretty heavy. He joked and said you have to be able to bench-press 120kg if you want to lift the trophy.

I wonder how much James Horwill, Richie McCaw, Schalk Burger and Keven Mealamu each bench?

I am thinking in that region if not 20-30kgs more.... Kevin looks like he would start biting the weights :p

So what are your preditions on this weekends clashes?

I am backing the stormers with a small margin and I am thinking the blues might just surprise ... but hell I am not sure enough to but any money on it.

I'm also going Stormers and Blues on Superbru but I'm not putting money on either of these games. Reds will be tough to beat with Digby back in action. I also have a bad feeling about the Stormers because rumours have it that Duvenhage and Fourie might not be fit in time.

Totally agree, if Fourie and Duvenhage are fit, it will be a bit easier for Stormers to win the Crusaders. But which team out there has a better backup center than the Stormers. Juan a truly magical center, provides a different dimension to what Fourie does. Stormers just have to hold on for the first half and little bit of the second half then the Crusaders fatigue will start kicking in. Stormers got the upper hand there, even tho Crusaders getting many of there injured players back. But it also has been shown that a good player returning from injury is not necessarily going to make an impact immediately.

Reds vs Blues, tough call. But think Reds with a win. Blues got an outside chance of winning this game, like the Sharks had against the Crusaders and we all know what happened there. Honestly think the same is going to happen with the Blues, maybe not such a mutalation.

Waratahs sign Sarel Pretorius

The Waratahs have signed the Cheetahs exciting scrumhalf Sarel Pretorius on a two year Super Rugby deal as the Waratahs' senior foreign player.

Pretorius has just completed his best season of professional Rugby as the top tryscorer in the 2011 Super Rugby competition, equalling Bjorn Basson (Bulls) on nine tries.

He will join the Waratahs squad following his 2011 Currie Cup campaign for Griquas, and is looking forward to heading to Sydney.

I'd also move to the 'Tahs if I was over-looked for Bokke selection at age 27. Charl Mcleod ahead of Sarel? What a joke. Divvy you're a disgrace

Another loss to SA rugby, what a talent.

I would have been very happy to have retained him for SA rugby especially as Fourie de Preez is going overseas at the end of this year...

Thus with Pretorius and Hougaard filling the nr 9 slot it would have softened the blow a lot... but Mcleod?!

Can't agree with the statements made wrt to Sarel Pretorious. Small defensive comment, SA Rugby probably looking towards the future with bringing in younger players and involving the youth. But I gues that is SA rugby for you, its a total joke.

Look at the SA squad, basically the same squad that went to the rugby World Cup final 2007 and I feel that is going to be there downfall. Relying on old faithful and not chaning things for the better. One dimensional thinking
